LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Avery Woods, a former nurse-turned-influencer, is under fire online after she reportedly made a joke about Jesus Christ on her podcast.

The 29-year-old woman made the alleged offensive remark during the February 10 episode of her podcast ‘CHEERS! with Avery Woods’ while having a discussion with ‘Too Hot to Handle’ star Harry Jowsey.

Avery Woods' controversial remark on her podcast

During the conversation, Avery Woods discussed women who send her hate messages and comments but add Bible verses in their Instagram bios.

"I’ve never been religious, but all my haters would say, ‘you’re a fat, ugly mom,’ but then in their bios, it’s like ‘Psalms 369, blessed mommy of four,'" she told Jowsey.

In response, Jowsey said, “Jesus is going to spank you, lady, if you keep it up."

Woods then made a profane and objectionable remark, perhaps intending as a joke but it sparked a controversy.

“First of all, I just want to say, my podcast is a comedy podcast and there are jokes that I should not make that cross lines, and I made a joke that crossed a line,” Woods added.

She further mentioned that “the episode that I did with Harry was scripted".

"These were questions that were written by producers. I probably should have spoken up a bit and maybe dimmed it down a bit," she explained.

Woods, however, asserted that she was "so sorry" for what she said.

"I shouldn’t have said anything like that. I need to remember that my sarcasm and my comedy is not going to be the same as other people’s… Please block me if you don’t like what you see," she added.

But people online were not ready to forgive her as one Redditor posted, “I feel like her apology was half a****, and just did it to cover her a**. She's such a terrible person and continues to get away with it, including making jokes about rp and throwing shade against religion, on the same podcast she had her step daughters on. She is and always will be fake.”

“I just went and watch like a minute. She can’t even look at the camera nor does she even have anything to say. I feel like her apology wasn’t even an apology?” another Redditor shared.
