LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent interview on CNN's State of the Union, Jake Tapper found himself incredulous as he confronted Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) over his assertion that President Joe Biden was "dragging his feet" on the Ukraine crisis.

According to Mediaite, the heated exchange covered a range of topics, including Ukraine, Donald Trump's stance on NATO, and the broader geopolitical landscape.

Scott accuses Biden of inaction amid global turmoil

Scott claimed, "From the beginning of the Ukraine war, what we've seen is actually Joe Biden dragging his feet. This is after we saw the botched withdrawal in Afghanistan. We've seen war in Ukraine. We have conflict in the Middle East. We have instability in the Indo-Pacific. What we need is strong American leadership."

Tapper, not accepting the criticism, challenged Scott's stance, highlighting the contradiction between criticizing Biden for inaction while Trump opposed financial aid to Ukraine.

Tapper challenges Scott on accountability amidst global crises

Tapper reminded Scott of Trump's statements that raised concerns among NATO countries about Russia's actions. He pointed to the recent fall of Avdiivka to Russian forces, emphasizing Ukrainian President Zelensky's plea for Congress to act due to a shortage of arms and ammunition.

Tapper drew parallels with Scott's earlier comments, where he accused Biden of having "blood on his hands" after Hamas attacked Israel, linking it to insufficient confrontation with Iran.

Tapper questioned Scott on whether Congress would bear responsibility if it failed to support Ukraine against Russia.

Scott advocates strong support to Ukraine

Scott remained steadfast, emphasizing past support for Ukraine and attributing Biden's perceived delay to following Germany's lead rather than taking immediate action.

He defended Congress's allocation of over $100 billion for Ukraine, referencing Trump's suggestion that a loan could provide additional resources.

"That’s one of the reasons why Congress has appropriated over $100 billion. Even president Donald Trump has said a loan to Ukraine would actually provide more resources.”

Twitter reacts to Tapper's challenge to Scott

Users on X backed Jake Tapper over his confrontation with Senator Tim Scott.

One user wrote, "Powerful words from Jake Tapper! It's important to hold our leaders accountable for their actions and statements. Hypocrisy should never go unchecked."

Another added, "I guess when you’re still taking orders from Trump he is still your “President.""

One commented, "Every time Tim Scott (Rochester) opens his mouth I'm embarrassed for him."

Another replied, "Tim Scott needs to be calling out the MAGA House."

"Scott is a pathetic tool for Trump," a tweet read.
