WASHINGTON, DC: Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz is already rolling out the blue carpet for Kamala Harris’ potential 2028 presidential run.

“We need to have the Democratic Party out on the field, the broad, inclusive Democratic Party talking about making life more affordable, talking about protecting freedoms. And I think Kamala Harris does a wonderful job with that,” Walz told Kristen Welker on NBC’s 'Meet the Press'. “If she chooses to run, that betters all of us.”

According to Walz, the 2028 Democratic primary is going to be packed with candidates.

“I’m sure there will be a lot of folks who throw their hat into the ring. But that’s good. And we need to make sure that we’re providing the alternative that America is asking for,” he said.

Walz did admit that the Harris campaign's messaging didn’t quite cut through the noise last time.

“I think she [Harris] had a message last year that I’m proud of. Did it break through enough? Obviously not, but it’s still a message that works: making sure that America is affordable for all, people feel included, and we tackle the toughest problems," he insisted.

Before the 2028 pep talk, Walz took a few swings at President Donald Trump.

He bashed Trump’s “mental capacity,” said the commander-in-chief was “fading physically,” and declared, “He’s not solving any of the problems. So, I’m deeply concerned he is incapable of doing the job.”

Harris is 'not done'

Harris hasn’t announced a 2028 run, but she is not denying one either. However, she already shot down the idea of running for California governor in 2026.

“I am not done,” she said during an October interview with the BBC, adding, “I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones.”

The BBC pressed her on those not-so-rosy polls that placed her behind Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson.

“If I listened to polls I would have not run for my first office, or my second office – and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here,” Harris responded.

The White House responded to the BBC, “When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should’ve taken the hint – the American people don’t care about her absurd lies.”

The former vice president is currently globe-trotting on a book tour for '107 Days', her behind-the-scenes account of the short-lived campaign she launched only after Joe Biden stepped aside amid concerns about his cognitive decline.

She has blamed the election loss on the record-short campaign window.

Trump calls Walz 'r******d', Walz fires back

This comes as Trump recently defended his remarks, calling Walz “seriously r******d,” insisting there was “something wrong” with the Minnesota governor.

During a Q&A aboard Air Force One on Sunday, a reporter asked, “You mentioned Tim Walz and you called him what many Americans do find an offensive word, ‘r******d.’ Do you stand by that claim of calling Tim Walz r******d?”

Trump didn’t dodge the question. “Yeah, I think there’s something wrong with him,” he shot back. “Absolutely. Sure. You have a problem with it? You know what? I think there’s something wrong with him.”

Walz fired back by calling on Trump to release his MRI results.
