WASHINGTON, DC: Time magazine faced significant backlash over its cover that depicted Elon Musk sitting behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, as if he were the President of the United States.

The image, which accompanied a cover story titled 'Inside Elon Musk's War on Washington', sparked widespread criticism and mockery across social media and political circles.

Elon Musk portrayed as president in exploration of his controversial role in Trump's administration

The cover, which showed Musk in a position of immense power, was part of a feature exploring the billionaire’s controversial role in President Donald Trump’s administration.

Musk had taken an aggressive stance as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), pushing for significant government spending cuts, workforce reductions, and bureaucratic reforms.

The article by Time magazine delved into his clashes with federal agencies, including his harsh criticism of USAID and his demands for greater access to closely guarded internal systems within various government departments.

According to Latin Times, the cover also drew comparisons to a 2017 issue that featured Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist, who had been portrayed as the "second most powerful man in the world."

That cover had reportedly angered Trump, contributing to Bannon’s eventual ousting from the White House.

Internet slams Time magazine for provocative 'President Musk' cover

Despite the magazine’s intent to spotlight Musk's growing influence, the cover was heavily criticized as a "vain attempt" to stir up controversy.

A user wrote, "Oh haha, another vain attempt at making a relevant meme, thing is, it is simply NOT OFFENSIVE to any current conservative. We like to look at both of those heavenly objects, the Resolute and the Resolute."

Another added, "You guys are REALLY trying your hardest to sow division between Trump & Elon aren’t you? Lol"

The third commentator remarked, "Please accept President Trump won the election, stop crying, and trust that the Amercian citizens made the correct choice. Thank you for the picture of President Musk. I will make a flag to hang so everyone can see."

"And just like that, TIME Magazine became an Election Denier," said a critic.

A person claimed, "Looks like the budget at Time had been cut . Did they use Adobe Express?"

Other chimed in, "What a bunch of evil irresponsible liars Time is…"

"Lol ..,,nice try," said one.

A comment reads, "That’s why Time is irrelevant. Just nonsense."
