Kate Middleton fans elated as she’s shortlisted for Time’s Person of the Year: ‘The only logical choice’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kate Middleton has been shortlisted for Time magazine's Person of the Year.
President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Benjamin Netanyahu, Jerome Powell, Claudia Sheinbaum, Joe Rogan, and Yulia Navalnaya, are among the other individuals on the shortlist for the title.
The 42-year-old Princess of Wales was commended for initiating a significant "conversation about privacy and health for public figures", adding her name to a list of well-known figures, per the New York Post.
Kate Middleton gets nominated for stirring conversation about 'privacy and health for public figures'
According to Daily Mail, Time has named a Person of the Year every year since 1927. The trophy is awarded to the individual, organization, or idea that has influenced the world the most this year, either positively or negatively.
Kate was nominated after she "stirred a conversation about privacy and health for public figures" following her cancer battle in 2024.
"The Princess of Wales made international headlines this year and stirred a conversation about privacy and health for public figures," the magazine's website stated.
The statement added: "In January, Kate Middleton was hospitalized for two weeks for a “planned abdominal surgery” and Kensington Palace said she would be out of the public eye until Easter."
Kate announced in March that she began a torturous course of treatment following major abdominal surgery in January, and doctors discovered evidence of cancer.
The princess avoided the spotlight after announcing her cancer diagnosis in March in order to focus on her treatment. In a letter sent three months later, the royal stated that she was "making good progress" but that she was experiencing "good days and bad days" as a result of chemotherapy.
While continuing on her gradual road to recovery, Kate announced that she was finally cancer-free following the procedure but advised that it would require patience and time before she could resume her full-time royal duties.

She has since joined the royal family again by taking on a few public appearances in recent weeks. Princess Kate most recently appeared at the yearly Christmas carol service, known as Together at Christmas held at Westminster Abbey in London on Friday, December 6.
The winner this year will succeed singer Taylor Swift, who won Time's Person of the Year award in 2023. Despite dominating the world music scene with her Eras Tour and most recent album, 'The Tortured Poets Department', Swift was conspicuously missing from the 2024 shortlist.
