Fact Check: Did Elon Musk threaten Hollywood elites with 'receipts' of their ties to Sean 'Diddy' Combs?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lately, TikTok and YouTube have been buzzing with some eyebrow-raising claims involving tech billionaire Elon Musk, music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, and alleged incriminating tapes featuring Hollywood’s elite.
But is there any truth to these rumors? Spoiler alert: Probably not.
How the rumor mill started
It all started with videos popping up across TikTok and YouTube. These clips claimed that Elon Musk had somehow acquired videos allegedly tied to Diddy’s infamous parties and was now threatening to expose Hollywood’s dirty secrets. The supposed price tag for these tapes was in the millions of dollars.
One TikTok video even teased “rumors about the tape being up for sale,” but provided zero receipts to back up the claim. Of course, this didn’t stop the internet from running with it. Suddenly, everyone was speculating about Musk’s alleged possession, even though no credible evidence had surfaced.
The drama seems to have originated from a handful of gossip-focused YouTube channels like The Urbanoire, C NEWS, and Glam Gossip. They posted videos with clickbaity headlines like “Elon Musk THREATENS Hollywood With Receipts Of Diddy Videos.”
One of these videos featured what looked like AI-generated images of Musk alongside Diddy. The video narration and scripting also appeared to lean heavily on AI, which might explain the oddly robotic delivery of lines.
"Elon Musk just stepped into the chat and he sent out a major warning to every celebrity who was freaking off at Diddy's parties by threatening to expose the freak-off videos," the narrator alleged. "Not too long ago it was revealed by the lawyer of one of Diddy's recent SA victims that the freak-off tapes were getting auctioned behind the scenes and that there were several powerful people trying to buy it so it wouldn't get released since they were also in the tapes."
Oh, and about those “receipts”? No real sources were cited. Just a whole lot of speculation.
According to these videos, Musk allegedly bought these mysterious tapes because Diddy had invested in Musk’s $44 billion Twitter acquisition. But now that Diddy’s been facing serious allegations and legal troubles, the relationship between the two has soured.
One video even dragged in Jeffrey Epstein, claiming Musk hinted at “thousands of hours” of footage involving Epstein and Diddy.
The narrator said, "In a recent interview that Elon did, he revealed that there were thousands of hours of freak-off footage between Diddy and Epstein, and this further made people believe that he was one of the people who bought the tape."
Fact Check: Unfounded
Let’s cut through the noise. Despite all the drama, there’s no solid proof to support the idea that Elon Musk bought or threatened to release these so-called “freak-off” tapes.
Even attorney Ariel Mitchell-Kidd, who’s representing one of Diddy’s alleged assault survivors, didn’t lend much weight to these claims. In a late-September interview with News Nation’s Ashleigh Banfield, Mitchell-Kidd did confirm she’d been approached about a Diddy tape, but she declined to get involved.
“There already have been tapes leaking around Hollywood, being shopped around to individuals in Hollywood,” Mitchell-Kidd said. “But one particular person contacted me to shop a particular video they were in possession of and to contact the person who was in the video to see if they were interested in purchasing the video before it became public knowledge."
"I can't explain who the person was but Mr Combs was in the tape and this other person is, I would venture to say, more high-profile than Mr Combs. […] I've seen stills of the video," Banfield added.
That said, there’s no indication that Musk was connected to any of this, Snopes reported.
