According to Kotb, when mothers utter the phrase "We'll see", it's actually a diplomatic way of hoping their children will forget whatever request they made.

Hager chimed in, clarifying that "'We'll see' is an absolute no." She humorously added, “Let’s just translate for the kids watching with their parents.”

"'We'll see' means you're not getting the toy. Not ice cream. It's not happening later," Kotb emphasized, while Hager elaborated with a specific example involving her 4-year-old son, Hal.

Hager said, “Never!” explaining Hal’s example. “'Can we have a cookie?’ We’ll see Hal.”

She playfully mentioned how Hal, with a knack for manipulation, skillfully uses the phrase against her.

Hager humorously remarks, "You know how [Hal] gaslights me all the time?"

She goes on to share a charming yet cunning episode involving her 4-year-old son.

Hager’s favorite book revolves around a mother's love for her son. But, as she recounts with a laugh, Hal cleverly insisted, "Daddy's gonna read this one" the previous night.

She continues to recite Hal's words, adding a playful touch, "'No, this is my special book with ... Daddy.'"

"That's hilarious!" Kotb laughs in response.

Hager then playfully addresses her son, saying, "But here's the deal, Guess what? 'We'll see' is my way to get back at you, little buddy."

She gazes directly into the camera, as if staring directly into Hal's mischievous eyes.

Changing the tone, Hager adds a nugget of wisdom, "And I will say, if you get a 'maybe,' things are looking up."

"A 'maybe' is probably a yes," Kotb suggests.

Hager concedes with a smile, "A 'maybe' is half and half. It's really just a 'maybe.'"

"Yeah, a 'maybe' is a 'maybe.' But you might win," Kotb concludes, capturing the nuanced and often humorous language of parenting.
