SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: Tom Brady, who is currently under a lucrative $375 million contract, sparked controversy on Sunday, October 27.

The former quarterback referred to Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen with an offensive slur during Fox’s broadcast, a remark that left many NFL fans upset.

The 47-year-old has revealed he had no intention to upset anyone, especially Allen, and vowed not to repeat the same mistake.

Tom Brady uses 'spaz' to describe Josh Allen

Tom Brady's comments surfaced during coverage of the Bills' victory over the Seattle Seahawks where he used the term "spaz" to describe Allen's play style.

“Sometimes he played like a spaz, like a grade-schooler on a sugar high, but now he’s controlled the chaos. He’s like a storm coming into town and you don’t want that storm coming into this town,” Brady said during the podcast.

The word, as noted in the dictionary, is slang derived from "sp*stic" and is often deemed highly offensive, particularly about those with "cerebral palsy."

It generally refers to someone perceived as "awkward or clumsy." It is an "extremely offensive word for a stupid person or a person who behaves or moves in a strange or uncontrolled way."

Josh Allen reportedly unfazed by Tom Brady's comments

The use of terms attracted backlash from social media, with many fans condemning Tom Brady for the insensitive language.

However, according to an insider, Brady had no intention of offending anyone.

“Tom had zero intention on getting anyone upset over his comments about Josh Allen that people are grilling him about online,” an insider told Daily Mail.

The insider further added that Brady is aware of the scrutiny on him but did not anticipate his words would offend viewers.

Interestingly, while Brady’s remarks drew criticism online, Allen, was reportedly unaffected by the comment.

According to the insider, Allen has no issue with Brady over the remarks. “Josh knows about the comment and is not bothered by it at all,” they shared.

“He’s good with Tom and they are not in a negative place with each other. Josh would shake Tom’s hand right now if they were in the same room. It is all good," they added.

Tom Brady plans to learn from public backlash

The incident marks another adjustment period for Tom Brady as he transitions into broadcasting.

Possessing a wealth of NFL experience yet a novice in the realm of commentary, Brady aims to grow from this oversight.

“He’ll take it on the chin and be better next time,” the source further said, adding that he doesn’t plan to address every criticism directly but will use this as motivation to improve.

"He will just use it as fuel to be better and won’t make the same mistake twice," the insider said.
