NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren expressed her belief on March 29 that men in "red states" would intervene to prevent incidents like New York City women being randomly punched in the face on the streets.

Videos depicting multiple NYC women recounting incidents of being punched in the face garnered attention on TikTok this week.

Tomi Lahren criticizes NYC response to attacks

The NYPD initiated investigations into the attacks, and a suspect is currently in custody. Lahren referenced remarks from a lawmaker questioning why the men were not protecting the women.

“Where are the men and why are they not doing something or stepping in when they see young ladies being punched in the face or otherwise harassed?” Lahren questioned during her appearance on Fox News' 'Outnumbered'.

She further argued that men like Daniel Penny, who faced charges for putting a man experiencing homelessness in a fatal chokehold on a New York City subway train last May, "might actually be the one that is punished instead of the ones that are going out and victimizing people".

“That is the upside down reality of living in New York City or in a blue state,” Lahren said.

“Not so in a red state. In a red state, this would not occur, and I can also tell you this: the men in red states would not allow this to occur if they were in the presence of this. You would feel more of a sense of protection being in a place like that," she concluded.

Internet reacts to Tomi Lahren's comments on NYC attacks

Social media lit up with reactions to Lahren's remarks.

A user asked, "Is she not aware of domestic violence cases in red states?"

Another said, "The men who are terrified to buy a quart of milk without carrying? Snort. Okay."

"I guess she moving out of New York than," a user stated hypothetically.

"As with most things, if it were true, she wouldn’t be saying it, because it wouldn’t need to be said," another noted.

"@TomiLahren Tomi Lahren 'thinking' is the funny part....!" read a comment.

"The same men in “red states” that are scared to come to big cities?" another person asked.
