LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Teri Garr has died at the age of 79 while battling longtime health issues. 

The ‘Young Frankenstein’ star was in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 29, and succumbed to multiple Sclerosis (MS) condition, according to Daily Mail.

It was in 2002 that the veteran actress opened up on her health struggle for the first time, revealing her diagnosis of a chronic disease that damages the central nervous system (CNS). It was followed by an aneurysm disease in 2006.

Garr is most remembered for her role as Sandy Lester in ‘Tootsie’, for which she also won a nomination as the Best Actress in the Supporting Role category.

She also went on to play the wife of Richard Dreyfuss' character Roy in ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ which won the Best Cinematography Oscar in 1978 for Vilmos Zsigmond.

Garr regularly appeared on late-night shows, including ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson' and ‘Late Night With David Letterman’. She even hosted 'Saturday Night Live' multiple times.
