MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: The death of Renee Nicole Good has shocked people across Minnesota. The fatal shooting has sparked anger, protests, and hostility toward Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents

Now, another incident has further intensified public concern. In this case, a US citizen was dragged out of her car by a federal agent. Aliya Rahman described the incident and the situation in the state as “traumatizing and overwhelming.”

Tensions grew after federal agents arrived in large numbers across the Twin Cities. Hostility between residents and agents increased soon after. This unrest began after Good was shot three times during a confrontation with ICE officer Jonathan Ross.

US citizen dragged from car during ICE action

Aliya Rahman is a US citizen who was violently dragged from her car by ICE agents. A video of the incident shows federal agents pulling her out of her vehicle after the Department of Homeland Security claimed she interfered with their work. In the footage, Rahman can be heard shouting that she was on her way to a doctor’s appointment.

“These last few days have been traumatizing and overwhelming,” Rahman told Newsweek. “First and foremost, I feel lucky to be alive. What I thought would be a routine trip to my appointment at the Traumatic Brain Injury Center turned into an assault by federal agents.”

The clash occurred near the intersection of 34th Street and Park Avenue, close to where Renee Nicole Good, 37, was fatally shot by an ICE agent. The woman can be heard yelling that she has a disability and was attempting to reach a medical appointment. She repeatedly tells the officers that she is autistic and explains that she was unable to move her vehicle.

“I’ve been beat up by police before,” the woman shouts. “I’m disabled, I’m trying to go to the doctor up there, that’s why I couldn’t move. I am an autistic disabled person, I’m trying to go to the doctor.”

ICE encounters fuel unrest in Minneapolis

Minneapolis has become a high-tension flashpoint following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old citizen, by an ICE agent during a federal enforcement operation. The incident occurred on January 7 in south Minneapolis and quickly drew national attention.

The shooting has deeply divided opinion across political lines. Some political figures and supporters of the current administration defended the ICE agent’s actions as lawful enforcement. Others criticized the federal presence and called for limits on immigration operations in the city, saying the situation has eroded public trust and safety.

The reactions have not been limited to Minneapolis. Protests over the incident spread to other cities, including New York, where demonstrations were held during an “emergency protest.”

Just days after Good’s death, another ICE-involved shooting took place in north Minneapolis. A Venezuelan man was shot in the leg by an ICE agent during a targeted traffic stop, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Officials said the man attempted to flee the scene, and when officers caught up with him, he resisted, leading to a struggle. Two others allegedly attacked the agent with a snow shovel and a broom handle, after which the officer fired a defensive shot, striking the man in the leg.

As long as federal agents remain deployed and clashes continue, Minneapolis and other affected cities are likely to remain in the national spotlight.
