LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently opened up about a scary moment during Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers when a little boy fell from the stands at Bank of America Stadium.

Despite seeing the incident unfold, Kelce admitted he didn’t stop to help immediately, expressing regret afterward.

During the latest episode of his 'New Heights' podcast, Kelce, 35, shared his reaction to the scary fall. “I actually saw this and I just kept on moving,” he said. "I felt bad after."

Kelce, however, reassured listeners that he didn’t believe the child was in serious danger. He noticed that his teammate, defensive tackle Tershawn "Turk" Wharton, had swiftly caught the child, preventing any further harm.

“I’m like over to the left … I was like, ‘Oh s**t. You got him, Turk? Hell yeah, Turk’s got him!'” Kelce recalled. His brother and podcast co-host, Jason Kelce, praised Wharton’s quick action, calling it the “play of the game.”

The young fan, wearing a Nick Bolton jersey, had fallen over the railing while attempting to get autographs from players as they entered the locker room. The incident occurred in the second half of the game in Charlotte, North Carolina, which had fans concerned, but fortunately, Wharton was there to catch the boy before he hit the ground.

In the podcast, Travis jokingly pointed out that the stadium's design may have contributed to the incident. "I don’t know who the brainiac was that cut the railing there," Kelce commented, referring to the gap in the barrier. “What the f**k is the gap for? He should f**king go to school with a neck brace on and sue the Panthers. Get rich quick, kid.”

Tershawn Wharton describes heroic save after boy fell from stands, Kelce expresses relief

Tershawn Wharton, who was quick to act, explained his instinctive response when he saw the boy falling. Speaking on ESPN’s 'The Pat McAfee Show' on Tuesday, Wharton, 26, recalled, “It was a natural reaction. Usually when I leave a game, [I] try to throw my gloves in the crowd, and I think I heard my name a little bit, and when I heard my name, I seen him coming down.”

Wharton added that while two security guards were nearby, they didn’t seem to notice what was happening. He quickly moved to help, pushing the boy gently into the stands to soften the fall.

Wharton’s quick thinking helped avoid any serious injury to the child, and the Chiefs defensive lineman was recognized for his heroic act.

Wharton, who joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri S&T in 2020, has since become an integral part of the team, earning two Super Bowl titles with the Chiefs, including one alongside his teammate Kelce.

As for Kelce, while he expressed regret for not stopping to assist right away, he made it clear that he was relieved to know that Wharton had stepped in to help the young fan. “I’m glad Turk was there,” Kelce concluded.
