LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer Ben Folds’ latest marriage has failed as he finalized his divorce from his fifth wife Emma Sandall.
The ‘Protection’ singer had filed for separation in December 2023 and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason.

Ben Folds and his wife Emma Sandall were together for six years after tying the knot in Hawaii on January 20, 2017. The divorce was finalized on February 27, and Ben was told to pay Emma $475,000 for any interest she had in their Nashville home. The 57-year-old would also be paying her $650,000 in monthly payments of $27,083.33 over 24 months, and her car insurance for 12 months, reports People.
According to the filing, “Ben must "pay Emma $50,000 for furniture, sign over the title to a 2016 Honda CR-V that was initially under his name, and give her $210,000 from a National Australian Bank account."
Ben Folds' past marriages
Folds was wed to his childhood best friend, songwriter Anna Goodman, from 1987 to 1992. "Anna and I felt pressure to do something with our lives, " he had said. "Getting married was the thing you had to do,” he added.
"My mum was barely 20 when she had me – but it's what you did," he penned for Sydney Morning Herald in 2012. He said about his first divorce, "When we split, both of us found a lot more success in our lives. She is a dear close friend and always will be."
Ben married Kate Rosen briefly in 1996, just about when he got recognition as a great singer. The singer’s third marriage was to Frally Hynes in 1999, with whom he welcomed twins Gracie and Louie.
Ben married Fleur Stanbrook in 2011, the same year after parting ways with Frally. "I always jumped into situations too quickly, thinking that was the right thing,” he said.
"I'm reckless, which has helped in my music, but taking risks in my private life hasn't measured up," he admitted.
