WASHINGTON, DC: On September 28, President Donald Trump shared a video touting the medical benefits of cannabis for seniors.

The video highlights how cannabis can help adults dealing with pain, inflammation, memory issues, and other aging-related problems — a notable point, as the 79-year-old president himself faces health issues such as venous disease, a chronic bruise on his hand, and occasional mental gaffes.

The video was posted on President Trump’s Truth Social account and was produced by The Commonwealth Project, a Massachusetts-based organization advocating for medical cannabis care for seniors.

According to reports, Trump may reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, signaling a potential shift in his federal policy stance. In the video, the narrator argues that CBD can “restore” the endocannabinoid system, touting benefits such as reduced pain, better sleep, and lower stress.

“When the system is restored, disease progression can slow down and years are added to your life, as well as years spent in good health.”

The video also praises Trump for signing the 2018 Farm Bill, which removed hemp from the list of controlled substances.

“Now it’s time to educate doctors on the endocannabinoid system, provide Medicare coverage for CBD, and give millions of seniors the support they deserve,” the video concludes.

According to The Guardian, seniors in the US aged 65 and above are turning to cannabis more than any other age group in the country.

Even though there aren't any scientific explanations for its benefits, Dr Alison Moore, a geriatrician and professor at the University of California, San Diego, told the publication, “We do know people find it useful.”

According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump expressed interest in reclassifying marijuana as a Schedule III drug during a fundraiser in August.

The president, who is said to avoid alcohol and drugs, has previously spoken about his late brother Fred Trump Jr’s addiction and has voiced support for easing federal marijuana laws.

He also announced that he would vote for a Florida ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana for adults, but the measure failed after it didn’t achieve the required 60 percent support.

Speculations grow about Trump’s health amid bruise and vein condition

Donald Trump, the oldest president to take office, has faced growing questions about his health. He has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in seniors that occurs when the leg veins don’t allow blood to flow back up to the heart.

A recurring bruise on his right hand has been described by the White House as a minor issue caused by frequent handshakes and regular use of aspirin, which he takes to help prevent heart disease.

Some have speculated that Trump’s bruise might be the result of IV fluids. The White House often relies on statements from MAGA loyalist Rep Ronny Jackson to push back on such rumors.

Jackson has previously asserted that Trump is the healthiest president ever and is both mentally and physically stable, based on consultations with his medical team.
