FBI questions Mexican restaurant staff where Nancy Guthrie filmed ‘Today’ show segment with Savannah
TUCSON, ARIZONA: FBI agents has reportedly questioned employees at a Mexican restaurant in Tucson as part of the ongoing investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
The eatery, believed to be El Charro Cafe in Tucson, became part of the probe because the elderly woman visited the place a few months ago with her journalist daughter, Savannah Guthrie, to film a segment for the ‘Today’ show.
FBI asked eatery staff if they saw anyone who 'looked suspicious when Savannah was here filming '
Recently, NewsNation Correspondent Brian Entin revealed on his show, ‘Brian Entin Investigates’ that “[Investigators] even went back to some of the places they visited, like the Mexican restaurant. And I was told that the FBI has even been there, sort of investigating because they went there as part of that segment.”
“At the Mexican restaurant, they were telling me that the FBI came by and said, you know, was there anyone here who looked suspicious when Savannah was here filming with her mom?” the journalist shared.
Entin also said that officers even asked the employees of the eatery if anyone “wanted to take pictures, or who got angry, or who was lingering around in a creepy way?” before adding, “So I know that that was part of the investigation.”
Savannah Guthrie visited a number of places in Tucson while shooting for 'Today'
In November 2025, Savannah reportedly covered several places and people in Tucson for 'Today' show. While filming for the segment, she, her mother Nancy, and her sister Annie reportedly visited El Charro, the oldest family-owned Mexican restaurant in the country, where they had a meal.
The 54-year-old broadcaster even asked her mother why she lives in Tucson and the elderly woman had said, “It’s so wonderful. Just the air, the quality of life. It’s laid back and gentle.”
Nancy Guthrie described as 'a humble, proud mom' by restaurant owner
Meanwhile, the owner and chef of the restaurant, Carlotta Flores, spoke with The New York Post, in the wake of Nancy's disappearance.
“I have absolutely nothing to say but wonderful things about their family. If you think about your grandmother, that’s the way [Nancy] is. She’s a humble, proud mom who only wants good things for her family. She is proud of her children. She just happens to have a daughter who is in the limelight,” Flores shared.
Addressing the possible kidnapping of Nancy, she said, “Everyone has their own opinions about [what happened,] but when it comes right down to it, this is a lady who is missing. It’s their mother missing.”
"This just shouldn’t happen to a lady in that age bracket, or anyone. [Tucson] is a place where if you don’t show up for two or three days, people will be curious about where you might be... We’re a small, tight-knit city,” Flores concluded.
