Trump aide Natalie Harp joins Trump as Melania makes rare public appearance
WASHINGTON, DC: Natalie Harp stepped into wider public view at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington as Melania Trump made a rare appearance alongside the president.
Harp, a close Trump aide, has recently drawn scrutiny over her presence around him and reported devotion to her boss.
The Daily Beast reported Sunday, August 23, that Harp joined Trump at the Washington event.
Melania's appearance puts Harp in view
Harp, 35, accompanied Trump at the event and was seen chatting with his son Eric, while Melania, 56, posed for pictures with her husband and rode in the presidential motorcade as Trump drove around the track, the outlet reported.
Melania's appearance was described as unusual because it marked only the 40th time she has been seen in public this year.
She had skipped several high-profile events in Washington with Trump, including the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner on July 24 and Sen Lindsey Graham's funeral on July 28.
The outlet also reported that Melania has reportedly been irked by Harp's constant presence around Trump, bringing additional attention to the aide's public appearance beside the president.
Harp has worked as Trump's executive assistant for more than a year and earns $150,000 annually.
She is a former right-wing television anchor.
Natalie Harp's loyalty has drawn scrutiny
Harp's role has come under scrutiny beyond her proximity to Trump.
She had worked at the White House for more than a year without completing the routine security-clearance process, according to the outlet, and MS Now reported that Trump intervened for her to begin the process.
That scrutiny intensified around sensitive travel.
Harp was among a small group of aides who joined Trump as he escaped Air Force One during a security hiccup in Turkey involving an apparent Iranian threat.

In one, she wrote, “You are all that matters to me,” and thanked him for being her “Guardian and Protector in this Life.”
She also wrote that she had been “forgetting to eat throughout the days, and even forgetting to sleep,” while saying she wanted things to remain right between them and feared being lowered in Trump's eyes.
Harp's Jan 6 posts showed her loyalty to Trump
CNN's review of Harp's now-removed X account found more than 150 posts from Jan 6, 2021, when she urged Republicans to “FIGHT FOR TRUMP” and echoed claims that the election had been stolen.
During Trump's speech, Harp wrote “FIGHT FOR TRUMP!” repeatedly and declared, “Today D.C. is TRUMP COUNTRY!”
She later shared claims that rioters who entered the Capitol were not Trump supporters and circulated reports that Antifa had infiltrated the mob, CNN report said.
David B Cohen, a political science professor at the University of Akron who studies the presidency, said Harp had “proven to be a totally loyal sycophantic adviser and staffer for him,” the report by the ourlet said.
“Trump likes that, he doesn’t like to be questioned,” Cohen said. “He likes to be revered, and she clearly does that.”
Harp's posts also praised lawmakers who challenged the 2020 election results, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Josh Hawley and six senators who voted to sustain objections to electoral votes, according to the report by the outlet.
