Internet uninterested as Trump and Biden win Louisiana primary after already securing party nominations
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump easily won Louisiana's primary after clinching Democratic and Republican nominations for the 2024 presidential election, reported the Associated Press.
In the unsurprising victory on Saturday, March 23, the opposing candidates collected more delegates ahead of the November election.
According to CNN, Biden secured 85.9 % votes, defeating Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips, who received only 4.8% and 2.6% votes, respectively. Donald Trump had a 90% vote share against the already dropped-out GOP candidate Nikki Haley's unimpressive 6.6%.
After crossing the needed delegate threshold, both candidates entered the general election race on March 12.
Trump will be officially nominated at the Republican National Convention in July, whereas his opponent will get the official nomination at the Democratic National Convention in August. Following the Louisiana primary, the ex-president has 1678 delegates, and the incumbent has 2523 delegates.
Israel war becomes roadblock for Biden while legal battle hinders Trump
Biden's re-election bid faces roadblocks from the left-leaning Democrats and pro-Palestinians who have expressed their anger in the primary ballot.
Some liberals refrained from voting for the incumbent over Israel's ongoing war in Gaza that has killed more than 30,000 Palestinians since October 7, 2023. This reflected heavily in the state primary in Michigan, where many voted "uncommitted".
In addition, the US' recent resolution in the UN calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war was vetoed by Russia and China.
Trump, the Republican presumptive nominee, on the other hand, is struggling to juggle the presidential campaign and his ongoing legal battles. Some voters are worried about the ex-president's legal troubles, including four criminal indictments and massive penalties in two civil suits.
In addition, Trump's campaign fundraising is also lagging behind Biden. As of February, the three-time GOP presidential nominee has only $42 million cash on hand, while his successor had triple the amount, which is about $155 million.
The voters will choose between Biden and Trump for the White House on November 5.

Internet reacts to Biden and Trump's Louisiana primary wins
Social media users seemed unenthusiastic about the primary results, pointing out that Trump and Biden were the only candidates running.
One user wrote, "No s---t they're the only ones running."
While a user wrote on Facebook, "But they both so old. Like, they don't wanna go and be grandpas? Are they that broke that they can't retire?"
A third user remarked, "How I wish there were other candidates."
A fourth response read, "They wouldn't win if there was anyone else."
Someone else commented on Facebook, "Ehh. I’d rather see both Biden and Trump lose. Both candidates are absolute idiots."
And another individual called the victories "Pathetic."
