Trump contrasts his Iran policy with Obama-Biden in AI image showing ‘sunken’ warships
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump reignited debate over his handling of Iran after sharing an AI-generated image on Saturday, May 9, that directly contrasted his administration with those of former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
The image, posted on Truth Social, showed two side-by-side scenes involving Iranian warships. One panel displayed several ships carrying Iranian flags floating on the water beneath the words “Obama/Biden.”
The second image showed many of those same ships appearing destroyed and submerged underwater, with debris scattered across the ocean floor beneath the word “Trump.”

Trump uses AI image to draw sharp contrast with Obama and Biden
Trump’s AI-generated post leaned heavily into a message he has repeated for years, that Iran became stronger during the Obama and Biden administrations, while his own leadership weakened the country militarily and economically.
The image itself appeared designed to reinforce that narrative visually. While the “Obama/Biden” section showed Iranian ships intact and operational, the “Trump” section showed destruction and chaos beneath the water.
Trump has frequently argued that Democratic administrations allowed Iran to become more aggressive through foreign policy decisions and sanctions relief.
At the same time, he has repeatedly credited his own administration with taking a harder military and economic approach toward Tehran.
The AI-generated post also comes after months of Trump publicly touting American military capabilities following strikes involving the US, Israel, and Iran earlier this year.
Though a ceasefire currently remains in place between the United States and Iran, Trump has continued issuing warnings toward Tehran.
Trump warns Iran as peace deal talks continue
Just days after pausing his maritime defense initiative known as “Project Freedom,” Trump warned that the United States would “knock” Iran “a lot harder, and more violently” if further attacks occurred.
The warning followed reports that US forces intercepted an Iranian attack on three American warships.
Trump paused “Project Freedom” after Iran reportedly received a proposed 14-point memorandum outlining terms for a long-term peace agreement and future nuclear talks.
According to the proposal, Iran would commit to a 10-to-20-year halt on nuclear enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief and access to billions in frozen funds.
The possible agreement, however, sparked concern among several conservative voices who have strongly backed Trump’s aggressive military posture toward Iran.
Trump allies criticize possible Iran nuclear deal
Some of Trump’s own allies expressed skepticism about the reported peace terms, arguing the administration should maintain maximum pressure on Iran instead of easing restrictions.
Fox News broadcaster Mark Levin warned that a deal would be “disastrous” for both Iranians and Israel. He also said he believed reporting surrounding the peace framework was “largely fake.”
Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt also weighed in online, writing, “I hope the terms of any deal would be significantly stricter: No enrichment, ever.”
“President Trump never gives up leverage. Why would he start now with #Iran on the ropes?” Hewitt added.
Despite the ongoing talks, Iranian leaders have shown little indication that they are prepared to back down.
Iran continues to maintain a strong presence around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes.
The ongoing tensions have also started affecting Americans financially, with rising gas prices becoming a growing concern as shipping disruptions continue in the region.
