WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump is anticipated to be Time magazine’s Person of the Year. To commemorate the announcement, the president-elect will ring the opening at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, December 12, Politico reported citing three anonymous sources.

Last year, pop sensation Taylor Swift was honored as Time’s "Person of the Year". To mark the occasion, Time CEO Jessica Sibley rang the opening bell of the York Stock Exchange in celebration of the cover reveal.

Donald Trump joins prestigious group of presidents as Time's 'Person of the Year' finalist

Donald Trump was named Time Person of the Year in 2016 following his victory in the presidential election. He now joins a prestigious group of presidents who received this recognition including President Joe Biden. In total, 14 US presidents have earned this honor.

A shortlist for Time Magazine's Person of the Year was revealed on Monday, December 9, on NBC’s 'The Today' Show. The list includes Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk, and Benjamin Netanyahu.

In addition, Time has announced several recipients for its annual awards. NBA star Caitlin Clark has been named Athlete of the Year while Elton John received the Icon the Year award. Lisa Su the CEO of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), was recognized CEO of the Year.

A spokesperson for Time informed Politico that the magazine "does not comment on its annual choice for Person of the Year prior to publication. This year’s choice will be announced tomorrow morning, December 12, on Time.com."

The internet has erupted with overwhelming support for Donald Trump as Time's Person of the Year, with many users praising his achievements and leadership.

A netizen said, "Sure does. He also deserved the Nobel Peace Prize Obama received."



 

Another added, "Thank God! He is the ONLY person who deserves it. He blows every other person on earth out of the water in this department for this year! God Bless you, President Trump. You are the man of the centuries. One of a kind - the best kind!"



 

One commentator remarked, "I hope this is true. He's going to be person of the year for the next 4 years in my book!"
