Trump fires at Obama as Iran deal backlash grows: 'Weak leaders let Tehran get away with slaughter'

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald J Trump has launched a fierce rhetorical counter-offensive against Barack Obama and Joe Biden, aggressively defending his administration's newly brokered ceasefire memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Writing on Truth Social on Saturday, June 20, Trump blasted critics of the accord as "fools" and claimed that his predecessors' failed diplomacy had empowered Tehran for decades until his own military intervention forced the regime to capitulate.

The explosive remarks serve as a direct rebuttal to comments Obama made during a televised interview that aired on Friday.

The former president had argued that after billions of dollars spent and substantial strains on the military, Trump’s war simply returned Washington to a volatile baseline, leaving the nation "worse off" than before the February escalation.

Trump flatly rejected this assessment, turning the growing scrutiny over his unreleased pact into a broader referendum on Obama's 2015 nuclear legacy.

Executive condemns past financial concessions

"Obuma just kept giving them $Billions in cash, and never used our then depleted military," Trump posted, contrasting his administration's kinetic actions with past diplomatic strategies.

He asserted that Iran had zero respect for previous leadership, viewing both Obama and Biden as weak and ineffective.

According to Trump, Tehran got away with slaughter for 47 years until his second-term military campaign brought about a complete military defeat.

The president maintained that his willingness to deploy direct force permanently altered the balance of power across the Persian Gulf, forcing a weakened adversary to accept immediate non-proliferation mandates.

Skeptical lawmakers target reconstruction provisions

Despite the president's robust defense, the White House faces an intensifying rebellion on Capitol Hill from both sides of the aisle.

Bipartisan lawmakers have voiced deep skepticism over leaked provisions within the 14-point text, which grant immediate energy export waivers, lift the maritime blockade, and lay out a roadmap for a potential $300 billion international reconstruction fund.

Prominent congressional Republicans have openly joined Democrats in questioning these front-loaded economic incentives.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz warned that history teaches that providing billions of dollars to a theological regime is a severe error, suggesting the president is receiving exceptionally poor advice from his security team.

With technical negotiations in Switzerland already facing friction, Trump's personal feud with Obama highlights the deep political fractures splitting Washington ahead of a finalized treaty.
