WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump, who is known for using AI images to convey his messages to his followers, has once again resorted to AI to reveal what’s on his mind about US-Canada relations and the border between the two countries.

The US recently placed a 50% tariff on many Canadian goods like hockey sticks and cement. The US claims Canada treats American cars, dairy, and alcohol unfairly.

Trump's AI post targets Canada's wildfire smoke

President Donald Trump shared a bizarre AI-generated image showing a massive air filter separating Canada from the United States, appearing to joke about wildfire smoke drifting across the border.

The post comes as relations between the two countries have faced renewed friction, making Trump's latest AI creation another unusual moment in his use of social media to comment on current events.

Trump recently vowed to hold Canada responsible for the “filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air” from wildfires that is drifting across the border.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their Forests, and Brush therein, and the United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous, and totally unacceptable.”

Millions of people in 18 states and the District of Columbia were under air quality alerts for days as air from the fires hit the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Trump threatens Canada over wildfire smoke costs

Trump said he plans to call the Canadian prime minister to discuss the issue, accusing Canada of refusing to carry out basic forest management and debris removal despite knowing it would lead to recurring wildfires.

Calling it "willful negligence," Trump said the smoke pollution has become a yearly problem that is costing the United States billions of dollars and argued those costs should be added to the tariffs Canada is already paying.

Canada pulled back its invitation to a joint ribbon-cutting between the two nations to mark the opening of the $4.4 billion bridge after Trump added 50% tariffs this week “in response to Canada’s discriminatory treatment of American products.”

The bridge, named after hockey legend Gordie Howe, links Detroit, Michigan, with Windsor, Ontario.
