WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump formally endorsed Jerrod Sessler, a US Navy veteran and former NASCAR driver, in his bid to unseat Rep Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) of Washington's 4th Congressional District, per The Hill.

Trump's endorsement was accompanied by a scathing critique of Newhouse, whom he described as a "weak and pathetic RINO" in a Truth Social post.

What did Donald Trump say about his endorsement of Jerrod Sessler?

The 77-year-old presumptive Republican nominee wrote in a Truth Social post, “Jerrod Sessler is a fantastic candidate and will be a GREAT Congressman for Washington State’s 4th Congressional District. A Navy Veteran, Entrepreneur, Loving Father and Husband, Jerrod will fight hard every day to secure the Border, stand for the Rule of Law, strengthen our Military, take care of our Vets, Defend our Nation, and protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”

The former POTUS continued, “He is running against a weak and pathetic RINO named Newhouse, who voted to, for no reason, Impeach me. Newhouse has to go! Jerrod Sessler is MAGA all the way, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement - He will never let you down!!!”

Rep Dan Newhouse, one of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the January 6, 2021, riot at Capitol Hill, was able to secure his reelection in 2022, even though Trump had endorsed another candidate.

Following Trump's endorsement of Sessler, he expressed his appreciation on the social media platform X (previously Twitter) saying, "#honored" in a post that featured a screenshot of Trump's Truth Social post supporting him.

During a virtual meeting of House Republicans following the Capitol riot on January 6, Rep Dan Newhouse proposed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the then-President of the United States, Donald Trump, from office.

This proposal was revealed in the book titled ‘This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future’ authored by Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns, reporters for the New York Times.

In the same meeting, Rep Jaime Herrera Beutler, a fellow Republican from Washington, suggested that key GOP stalwarts request Trump to resign.

According to the book, Herrera Beutler stated, "I think another way out that we should consider as a conference is asking our own leadership to join with the Republican leadership in the Senate and asking this president to resign."

Internet slammed Donald Trump for backing Jerrod Sessler

People on X lambasted the MAGA strongman for supporting ex-NASCAR driver Jerrod Sessler’s bid to oust Rep Dan Newhouse who had been reelected once before despite not receiving Trump’s coveted endorsement.

One X user remarked, “Again, proving the trumplican party are the party of NO criticism is allowed and everyone must walk-in lockstep with each other."

Another user said, "Looks like Trump is endorsing another loser."

Another user wrote, "Weak and pathetic is Trump's brand."

One user claimed, "First step. Quash all dissent in the Party. Second step quash all dissent in the government. Third step quash all dissent in the country. You all have been warned."

Another X user argued, "The way I look at it any Republican Representative like Congressman Dan Newhouse who had the audacity to Impeach Former President Donald Trump for Trump's role in the Capitol Attack on January 6th 2021 is a Patriot in my book in spite of political difference's."

A user tweeted, "The most vindictive politician in American history. And most criminal."
