DES MOINES, IOWA: The campaign team of former President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of three out of four scheduled in-person campaign events in Iowa, leading up to the January 15 caucuses.

The decision comes in response to the extreme weather conditions prevailing in the Hawkeye state and has been replaced with tele rallies arranged in place of the original campaign events.

Both the rallies that were to be held in Sioux City and Atlantic on Saturday, January 13, have been canceled, while a tele-rally featuring Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has been scheduled for the evening, according to a report by CNN.

The second rally Trump was supposed to hold in Cherokee has also been canceled and replaced by a tele-rally with Iowa state Rep Bobby Kaufmann.

Having said that, the campaign team has confirmed that the 77-year-old GOP presidential frontrunner is still expected to conduct an in-person rally in Indianola on Sunday, January 14.

Interestingly, just a few days back, his lawyer, Chris Kise, requested Judge Engoron, presiding over Trump's civil business fraud trial in New York, for a postponement of the closing arguments due to the death of Melania Trump's mother, Amalija Knavs, on January 9.

However, the judge promptly rejected the proposal and informed the lawyer that the scheduled date for closing arguments would go forward as planned.

Trump nevertheless attended the closing arguments for his civil fraud trial on January 11 and launched a scathing attack on the judge and the New York Attorney General, accusing them of having a personal agenda against him.

A recent video message regarding the former POTUS campaigns ahead of the Iowa caucuses led people to speculate whether his appeal to postpone the closing arguments, his mother-in-law's death, was genuine.

What did Donald Trump say about the cancellation of his in-person weekend rallies in Iowa?

Following the announcement of event cancellations, Trump voiced a conjecture in a video shared by his campaign team on X (formerly Twitter).

He suggested that the extreme weather conditions in Iowa could potentially favor his campaign in preparation for the upcoming caucuses.

The ex-POTUS began by saying, "Hello, Iowa. This is your favorite president, and we're going to make America great again. I'm leaving very shortly for your beautiful state. I love that state. I love the people in the state."

He continued, "I'll get there sometime around Saturday night or something. One way or the other, I'm getting there. You have the worst weather, I guess, in recorded history, but maybe that’s good because our people are more committed than anybody else so maybe it’s actually a good thing for us."

"But we have to make sure we caucus on Monday [January 15], 6.30. Get there a half hour before the 7 o'clock bell, and we're going to do something that's really special. We're going to start with you and then we're going to turn our country around and it's going to be amazing," noted Trump.

The 77-year-old GOP presidential frontrunner explained, "I’ll get to see you on Sunday and Monday and maybe Saturday night late. It’s going to be a little bit of a trek, nobody knows how exactly we’re going to get there, but we’re going to figure it out. And we wouldn’t miss it for anything."

"We have record cold weather, record snowfall, record everything, but we will not miss it," assured Trump.

Taking shots at the incumbent, he stated, "But we'll see you on Sunday. We'll see you on Monday. I'm going to be helping you with the caucus, and I look forward to it. And we're going to have a great victory. And we're going to beat the crooked Joe Biden, the worst president in the history of our country."

He added, "Not even a contest you could take, as I often say, the ten worst - add them up, they're not as bad. They haven't done the damage that this man has done to our country."

"So we're going to make America great again. I'll see you on Sunday. I'm going to see you on Monday, and I'm going to be with you at 7 o'clock, but get there at 6.30 and we're going to caucus and we're going to do great. Thank you. See you then," concluded Trump.

Because of the state's adverse weather conditions, other candidates namely Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy also had to cancel their respective campaign events leading up to the caucuses.

Internet ridicules Donald Trump for stating that he will visit Iowa despite canceling weekend campaign events leading up to the January 15 caucuses

Soon after Trump's message regarding the canceled Iowa campaign events and his assurance of visiting the state came to light, netizens wasted no time to slam the POTUS, especially owing to the recent bid to postpone the closing arguments of the NYC civil fraud trial.

One remarked, "If he's talking he's lying," while another exclaimed, "Always a con man!"

A person said, "We knew it was a load of c**p," with someone else adding, "I wouldn't want him there anyhow but condolences to Melania."

An individual quipped, "Doubtful he's even seen Melania any time during the past three months. He's running around with his lawyer."
