Trump rages over report FBI had 274 plainclothes agents in Jan 6 crowd: 'Major explaining to do'

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump erupted on Saturday, September 27, as a new report claimed that the FBI secretly deployed 274 plainclothes agents in the crowd during the January 6, 2021, Capitol protest.
The 79-year-old commander-in-chief said the alleged revelation contradicted sworn statements from then-FBI Director Christopher Wray and called for accountability.
It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax. This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again!…

Trump says Blaze report disputes Christopher Wray's claims on 'January 6th hoax'
Donald Trump said the disclosure directly clashed with what Americans had been told.
“It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax,” he wrote on Truth Social.
“This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again!” Trump added in his post.
The Blaze reported on Thursday that the FBI had privately acknowledged those plainclothes agents, despite a Justice Department Inspector General review denying their presence.
DOJ Inspector General had denied undercover FBI agents access to crowds
The US Department of Justice Office of Inspector General issued an 88-page report in December 2024, concluding there was no evidence of undercover personnel in the protest.
“We found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol, on January 6,” the watchdog stated.

The report, however, did disclose that 26 FBI confidential human sources were present that day, with four entering the Capitol.
Only three had been assigned by the FBI to attend and monitor possible domestic suspects. The review noted that none had been authorized to break the law or direct others to commit illegal acts.
Trump says James Comey and Christopher Wray 'got caught lying'
Donald Trump further accused the bureau of misleading the public, writing, “That’s right, as it now turns out, FBI Agents were at, and in, the January 6th Protest, probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists, but certainly not as ‘Law Enforcement Officials.’”
“I want to know who each and every one of these so-called ‘Agents’ are, and what they were up to on that now ‘Historic’ Day,” he continued in the Truth Social post.

He added, “Many Great American Patriots were made to pay a very big price only for the love of their Country. I owe this investigation of ‘Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians’ to them! Christopher Wray, the then Director of the FBI, has some major explaining to do.”
Concluding his remarks, Trump wrote, “That’s two in a row, Comey and Wray, who got caught LYING, with our Great Country at stake. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN TO AMERICA AGAIN!”
