WASHINGTON, DC: After exchanging a barrage of brutal insults, Elon Musk has shown signs of a possible truce with Donald Trump. However, the president claims to be too busy to reconcile with his former ‘first buddy.’

The 78-year-old president and the Tesla CEO have been locked in a dramatic war of words since the tech billionaire publicly blasted his much-loved ‘big beautiful bill’.

In response, Trump called the tech billionaire "crazy" and threatened to cut his government subsidies and contracts, of which both Tesla and SpaceX have been immense beneficiaries.

Musk, who recently exited the White House and his signature Department of Government Efficiency, fired back, calling for Trump's impeachment, mocking the POTUS' signature tariffs, and accusing him of having ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Why hasn’t Donald Trump made up with Elon Musk?

The commander-in-chief recently sat down for a podcast with New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, where he revealed that he’s just too busy saving the world to reconcile with the SpaceX boss right now.

During the conversation, Trump “did open up the door to reconciling with Elon Musk at some point in the future.”

“He is not opposed to that, but he said he is too busy at the moment trying to end two world wars, dealing with riots in LA, and bringing the economy back,” Devine said on 'Fox & Friends', according to Daily Beast.

Although it's unclear which "world wars" Devine was referring to specifically, her remarks follow an hours-long meeting on Sunday in Camp David, Maryland, where Trump “and his entire top foreign policy team" discussed how to handle the Iran nuclear crisis and the Gaza struggle.

“The retreat allowed all the senior people in the administration to sit together for a long time and discuss these issues,” a Trump official told Axios.

Earlier this week, the president also activated 4,000 National Guard troops to quell protests in Los Angeles, where rioters set fire to driverless cars, looted stores, drove motorcycles at lines of cops, and created blockades to grind downtown to a complete halt.

Elon Musk claims he ‘went too’ far with his attacks on Donald Trump

Over the course of the last few days, Musk and Trump have dialed down the rhetoric, with the tech billionaire deleting incendiary X posts attacking the president.

The ‘Starlink’ founder even went on to claim that he regrets some of the posts he made last week about Trump.

"I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote in a message on his social media platform X on Wednesday, June 11.

He did not say which specific posts he was talking about. Musk’s regretful post came after sources told Daily Mail that his anger had begun to subside, and they think he might want to mend his relationship with Trump.

At the White House press conference on Monday, Trump also reflected on his feud with Musk, claiming he wished the former DOGE leader well and would “have no problem” if he called.
