Trump says B-2 strikes ‘obliterated’ Iran’s nuclear potential, warns Tehran was weeks from a bomb

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Wednesday, March 4, asserted that the US now has the "greatest military in the world by far," which he credited with finally stopping nearly five decades of aggression from Iran that has been "killing our people, killing people from all over the world" for 47 years.
President Trump emphasized that his administration’s decision to "terminate one of the worst deals ever made, the Obama nuclear deal" was the only thing that prevented a nuclear disaster and ensured that the US would no longer be "pushed around" as it had been in the past.
Trump credits US military for stopping Iranian threat
During a White House roundtable event with tech companies, President Trump spoke strongly about his decision to stop what he calls the "Obama nuclear deal." He believes the original agreement actually gave Iran a "road to a nuclear weapon" instead of stopping them.
He argued that if he hadn't ended the deal, "bad things would have happened four years ago" because Iran would have already had a bomb.
By walking away from that agreement, he claims he protected the United States and Israel from a regime that "would have used it on us if we let them."
Trump defends B-2 strike on Iran nuclear sites
The president also discussed a major mission called "Operation Midnight Hammer," where B-2 stealth bombers were used to destroy Iran’s nuclear sites. He used the word "obliterate" to describe how the military wiped out their nuclear potential, calling it a "complete obliteration."
According to Trump, if the US hadn't acted within two weeks of that mission, Iran would have had a nuclear weapon.
He stated that the military is currently wiping out missiles and launchers "rapidly" and that "when crazy people have nuclear weapons, bad things happen," so the US had to show its strength.
Trump credits rebuilt US military for global strength
Finally, Trump linked these successes to the "rebuilding of the military" during his first term, which he says allowed for "tremendous progress" around the world.
He noted that the Iranian leadership is now "rapidly going" and that their power is fading, observing that "everybody that wants to be a leader, they end up dead."
He also pointed to other regions as proof of this strength, stating that "Venezuela worked out really great" and is a prime example of how the US is using its power more effectively following the capture of Nicolas Maduro earlier this year.
He concluded by saying the country is in "very good shape now" and will continue to move forward with a "great display of military strength."
