Trump says Iran war ‘already won’, attacks Chuck Schumer in fiery remarks
WASHINTON, D.C.: Donald Trump is once again stirring controversy over the Iran conflict, this time declaring the war effectively over while launching a sharp, personal attack on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Speaking on Thursday, March 26, during an appearance on 'The Five', Trump painted a confident picture of the ongoing military campaign, even as criticism from Democrats grows louder.

Trump says US 'won' Iran war
“Well, we’ve already won the war. Militarily, we’ve totally won the war,” Trump said during the interview when asked what winning looks like.
“I watch poor Chuck. Chuck Schumer's a great Palestinian, represents the Palestinian nation right now. He’s no longer Jewish, I guess. What he’s done to the Jewish people is incredible. They hate him,” Trump added.
His claim that the war is already won contrasts with the fact that the conflict is still ongoing.
While he emphasized military success, he did not specify which benchmarks had been achieved or what comes next.
The tone quickly shifted when he mentioned Schumer, making a remark that drew an immediate reaction.
Chuck Schumer warns of another long war in Middle East
Schumer, meanwhile, has been one of the most vocal critics of the administration’s approach to Iran.
He has repeatedly warned that the US could be heading toward another prolonged, costly conflict.
Speaking about the situation, Schumer pointed to the lasting impact of past wars. “Americans spent the last two decades fighting and dying in the Middle East. Parents watched their kids shipped off to foreign lands. So many lives lost, so many billions wasted. So much suffering and anguish that scarred an entire generation,” he said.
He then directly questioned Trump’s strategy. “Why is Donald Trump hellbent on making history repeat itself? Why is he plunging America headfirst into a war that Americans do not want and which he cannot even explain?!” Schumer added.
Concerns grow over escalation and unclear strategy
Schumer has also raised concerns about what he views as unclear messaging from the administration. In particular, he cited comments from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suggesting the conflict could expand.
“The last thing the American people want or need is another war in the Middle East,” Schumer said, before referencing Hegseth’s remarks. “In his own words, Hegseth said, ‘we are just getting started.’”
That statement, Schumer argued, signals the possibility of deeper involvement. “You hear that America? Pete Hegseth says another war in the Middle East is just getting started,” he said, warning that more troops and resources could be committed.
He also questioned whether there is a clear plan in place. “What is Hegseth even talking about? Are we putting boots on the ground? Are we depleting our strategic munitions reserves? Is there a timeline or limit to our engagement in Iran? We have no clue,” Schumer said.
