WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Thursday, April 16, defended the First Lady, explaining that she spoke out against the Jeffrey Epstein lies because the "fake news" would not stop smearing her.

Trump’s comment follows after Melania made an stayement on April 9, to address the rumors about her and the convicted offender: “The lies linking me with disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.”

Trump slams media fabrications

While speaking to the press outside the White House, President Trump addressed the surprise surrounding his wife’s recent statement on Epstein

He was blunt about why she had to come out swinging, stating that she has never had any ties to the Epstein case.

When asked by reporters why she addressed the matter publicly, the President pointed the finger directly at the press.

Trump explained she took action “because the fake news said she did. She had none. I think that’s been proven.”

Melania demands truth and hearings

In a rare address from the White House, Melania Trump rejected what she called "fake images and statements" used by the media to damage her reputation.

Her comments came amid heightened scrutiny around the Epstein case, including a dispute involving the Justice Department and Congress over testimony linked to the investigation.

Beyond just defending herself, she called on Congress to hold public hearings so that the victims can testify under oath.

She made it clear that she was never part of Epstein’s circle and that he did not introduce her to her husband.

Melania Trump also clarified that a polite email from the past was being twisted by the media into something it wasn't, emphasizing that she has no tolerance for these smears.

Melania sets the record straight on social circles

Melania explained that living in New York and Palm Beach meant occasionally being at the same large parties, but that never meant there was a friendship.

She challenged the media to focus on the actual facts rather than spreading misinformation for political gain.

“I have never been friends with Epstein. Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach. To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell,” she had stated.

“My email applied to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence. My polite reply to her email doesn’t amount to anything more than a trivial note,” she added.
