WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump once again went after Minnesota Democrats over their opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Taking to Truth Social on Sunday, January 18, the 79-year-old claimed that Minnesota leaders were opposing federal immigration enforcement operations to divert attention from what he described as the state's massive fraud scandal.

He wrote, “ICE is removing some of the most violent criminals in the world from our country, and bring them back home, where they belong. Why is Minnesota fighting this?”

Trump says antprotesters are 'paid professional agitators'

The commander-in-chief asked the people of Minnesota whether they “really want murderers and drug dealers to be ensconced in their community? The thugs that are protesting include many highly paid professional agitators and anarchists. Is this really what Minnesota wants?”

Trump then went on to specifically attack Governor Tim Walz and Ilhan Omar, the representative for Minnesota's 5th Congressional District since 2019.

He added, “The crooked Governor and 'Congresswoman' Omar, who married her brother, don’t mind because it keeps the focus of attention off the 18 Billion Dollar, Plus, FRAUD, that has taken place in the State!”

“Don’t worry, we’re on it!” he asserted.

Tim Walz and Jacob Frey face investigation

The remarks came as Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have been facing a probe for allegedly obstructing ICE operations in the state.

US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche reportedly said, “When the governor or the mayor threatens our officers, when the mayor suggests that he's encouraging citizens to call 911 when they see ICE officers, that is very close to a federal crime.”

Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “A reminder to all those in Minnesota: No one is above the law.”

Tim Walz slams Trump for 'authoritarian tactic'

But Walz fired back in a tweet, accusing Trump of using the justice system against his opponents.

He stated, “Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly.”

“Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic. The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her,” he added.

Ilhan Omar said she's ashamed because of ICE attacks

Omar has also criticized the Trump administration for the ICE operations.

During a Democratic field hearing in St Paul titled “Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump's Deadly Assault on Minnesota,” she said that the people of America should be ashamed of the ICE operations.

She also noted that since the attacks are “being... broadcast to the rest of the world, where people are calling and saying, ‘Are you sure this is America?' I am ashamed, and we must do everything that we can to bring back the America we all escaped into.”
