FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump flubbed while praising his daughter-in-law Lara Trump during a town hall in Fayetteville on Friday, October 4.

Trump paid a visit to the All-America city to fend off Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the election’s North Carolina battleground, per OK Magazine.

During the town hall, Donald Trump explained how he helped daughter-in-law Lara Trump, married to his son Eric, become RNC co-chair.

"This is a very upwardly mobile person, she's doing good… I'm very conscious of like nepotism. But when I did with her, all I did was recommended and everybody couldn't believe she was even doing it."

He added, "She is really a person that's incredible. She’s respected by everybody, they love her. Go out and vote in honor of this wonderful person."

The former president also praised billionaire Elon Musk, a major supporter of his campaign, for providing Starlink satellite systems to Western North Carolina following the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, per AOL.

The town hall took place as rescue and recovery efforts continued around the clock in Western North Carolina. Around 115 deaths had been reported by state and local officials as of Friday, per the outlet.

Donald Trump stumbles while answering about child care plan

Donald Trump stumbled while answering about his child care plan in September. He was asked if he would prioritize the issue and how he would handle it if elected president this November, per NBC News.

His answer was incomplete while offering a coherent vision or policy on how he would address child care needs, as he went on to promote his proposed tariffs on imported goods to the US and touted the revenue they would bring in.

Trump was asked if he would "commit to prioritizing legislation to make child care affordable and what specific piece of legislation" he would support during a Q&A session at the Economic Club of New York.

He answered, "Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down. You know, I was somebody — we had, Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka, was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue."

He continued, "But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about — that, because look, child care is child care, couldn’t — you know, there’s something — you have to have it in this country. You have to have it."
