Lara defends Trump's debate strategy while questioning Harris' record
Born Lara Yunaska on October 12, 1982, in Wilmington, North Carolina, she has been a prominent figure on the campaign trail in recent months, championing Trump’s debate performances and playing a significant role in his current campaign.
In a pre-debate appearance on NBC News, Lara praised her father-in-law’s debate strategy, emphasizing his focus on highlighting the contrast between his presidency and Harris’ tenure. “Donald Trump knows exactly what he needs to do,” she asserted.
"This is about talking about how the American people's lives were while he was in office and how their lives are right now, and he has to make sure people are reminded how Kamala Harris has had the opportunity for nearly four years to do a whole host of different things."
"I think the major question is, why do you need to wait? Why aren't you doing these things now? And he has to kind of expose Kamala Harris for who she really is," she questioned.
"Because America, by and large, does not know a lot about her, she's only done one interview thus far."
The 90-minute debate, hosted by ABC News at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, was held without a live audience. As per the agreed terms of the campaigns, the candidates’ microphones were muted while their opponents were speaking.
Lara Trump attributes Biden's withdrawal to father-in-law's debate performance
Previously, Lara credited Trump’s impactful debate performance against Joe Biden on June 27 for the president's withdrawal from the race. "He took it on June 27 in the debate against Joe Biden," Lara said.
"I think if anybody had any question how Donald Trump can perform in a debate that was a knock-out punch, Joe Biden is no longer the nominee for the Democrats I would say specifically because of that debate. I think he's going to be cool calm and collected. I think everyone is going to be very impressed," she said.
