Trump signals Todd Blanche for permanent AG role, praises DOJ leadership
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, June 3, appeared to settle one of the biggest unanswered questions inside his administration, strongly suggesting that acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is on track to become the permanent head of the Justice Department.
While the president stopped short of announcing a formal nomination, his latest comments offered the clearest indication yet that Blanche has emerged as Trump's preferred choice to lead the nation's top law enforcement agency for the long term.

Trump says 'Blanche doing a good job'
Speaking during an interview on 'Pod Force One', Trump was asked directly about Blanche's future and whether the acting attorney general would ultimately secure the position permanently.
The president did little to hide his thinking. “He’s a very talented guy. Todd’s doing a very good job at DOJ,” Trump said when discussing Blanche's performance since taking over the department.
When pressed on whether Blanche would eventually become attorney general, Trump offered an even more revealing answer. “I think he will,” the president said.
Although Trump declined to provide a timeline for any official nomination, the remarks immediately fueled speculation that the White House is preparing to make Blanche's appointment permanent after several months of leading the department in an acting capacity.
Blanche assumed control of the Justice Department following the dismissal of former Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this year.
Since then, he has become one of the administration's most visible legal figures, overseeing a series of controversial decisions that have drawn praise from Trump allies and criticism from opponents.
Controversies surround DOJ leadership
Todd Blanche's tenure has featured aggressive legal actions and high-profile investigations that quickly placed him at the center of several political battles.
The acting attorney general has also become closely associated with Trump's effort to reshape federal law enforcement and what the administration describes as a campaign against the political "weaponization" of government institutions.
The president's comments come as Blanche continues to face scrutiny over several decisions made during his brief time running the department.
One of the biggest flashpoints involved a proposed $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund that drew criticism from lawmakers across the political spectrum.
The proposal generated bipartisan backlash and eventually became a focal point during Blanche's recent appearance before Congress.
Facing questions from lawmakers, Blanche later indicated that the Justice Department would not move forward with the fund, effectively backing away from the initiative amid mounting pressure.
Trump's endorsement is also particularly notable because it arrives at a time when the administration is preparing for major legal and political fights heading into the midterm election cycle.
By publicly praising Blanche and signaling confidence in his leadership, Trump appears to be sending a message that continuity at the Justice Department remains a priority.
