WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump, 79, reignited public speculation on Thursday after appearing at the White House with visibly mismatched makeup on his right hand, a recurring issue that has fueled months of speculation surrounding his health.

The incident unfolded during an executive order signing event on November 13, where first lady Melania Trump delivered remarks while the president stood beside her, his heavily concealed hand clearly visible.

Donald Trump’s hand makeup resurfaces as bruising questions grow

The moment immediately reignited attention online because the president has repeatedly been photographed with extensive bruising on his right hand since he returned to the White House in February.

His attempt to cover the discoloration, described as an “ill-matched glob of cover-up” has been spotted during several high-profile appearances.

The first notable instance this year occurred when Trump met French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House in late February. Since then, the makeup has appeared “nearly monthly,” with critics frequently pointing out its inconsistent shading. When the makeup isn’t present, photographers have captured what appears to be a deep purple bruise across the top of his hand.

White House blames bruising on routine factors

The White House has repeatedly attributed the discoloration to routine causes. Officials say the bruising is the result of the president’s constant handshaking combined with his daily aspirin intake, something they describe as part of his preventive health regimen.

Despite the mismatch in color, Trump did not avoid interacting with attendees on Thursday, shaking hands in the East Room immediately after the signing.

New medical concerns arise as Trump undergoes repeated exams

The makeup incident comes amid a string of medical questions that have followed the president throughout the year. Over the summer, the White House disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common and largely benign condition that explains the dramatic ankle swelling visible in several photographs.

In a memo released in July, Trump’s physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, insisted that the president remained in “excellent health.”

Unusual MRI fuels speculation

But the administration has faced criticism for what some view as half-answers and withheld details. Last month, Trump underwent a second physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, just six months after his annual exam in April.

It was Trump himself who later told reporters aboard Air Force One that he had an MRI during the visit, a detail the White House had not volunteered.

When pressed during a briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to clarify which part of Trump’s body had been scanned. She later said, “The full results were reviewed by attending radiologists and consultants, and all agreed that President Trump remains in exceptional physical health,” adding that the MRI was part of a routine exam, even though such imaging is not generally included in standard physicals.
