WEST PALM, FLORIDA: Donald Trump made an enthusiastic address to his supporters for the first time after winning the 2024 presidential race.

Claiming victory in his speech from his campaign headquarters in Florida, Trump not only promised to help the country “heal” but also thanked his wife Melania for her support.

Though Trump is yet to be declared as the winner of the presidential election by all the media houses, Fox has announced him to be the winner.

On the night of the US presidential election results, the 78-year-old veteran politician took to the stage to thank his wife of almost two decades.

Taking the stage with Slovenia-born Melania, whom he married in 2005, Trump said, “I also want to thank my beautiful wife Melania, First Lady, who has the number one best-selling book in the country. Can you believe that?”

He further praised her work, saying, “She works very hard to help people. So, I just wanted to thank her.”

Pausing his victory speech mid-way, Trump kissed Melania on the cheek as the crowd cheered. He also added that Melania's late mother would "be very happy right now standing on this stage" and would be "very proud."

The former first lady’s memoir titled ‘Melania’ debuted on October 8 to much acclaim, and has since been named as a bestseller by Amazon and The New York Times.

Donald Trump's praise of Melania did not please the Internet

Donald Trump's candid praise of Melania, however, did not sit well with a section of the netizens as they took to social media to claim she does work only to "help herself."

One social media user said, "Donald Trump just said that Melania works hard to help people. Funniest isht I’ve heard tonight."

Someone else asked, "He’s hawking her book up there. Ugh. Will the WH turn into QVC now?"

"I just can’t take it anymore here in America, I need to get out of here!" commented one person.

Someone else added, "It is almost painful to even joke about this. HOW THE FK do we fix it."

"He started grifting her book in his victory speech," observed another user.

Someone else added, "I laugh at that, too, and then he said her book was #1. She only works to help herself. Four more years of nothing from the worst first lady ever."

"Just like him, he meant she helps herself," said someone else.

Another individual noted, "It's funnier that he promoted her ridiculous book and claimed it's a best seller."
