WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump said that he planned to sue comedian Trevor Noah after the former 'Daily Show' host joked about Trump and the late Jeffrey Epstein while hosting the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, February 1.
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump denounced Noah as “pathetic” and accused him of making a “false and defamatory” claim during the broadcast.
Noah made the remarks moments after Billie Eilish won Song of the Year, quipping that Trump wanted Greenland “almost as much” as a new island to visit, adding that “since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
Noah closed the bit by saying it would be his final year hosting.
Trump rejects Epstein island claim and vows legal action
Trump responded hours later by attacking both the awards show and its host, calling the Grammys “virtually unwatchable” and Noah “almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel.” He then directly rejected the Epstein reference.
“The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer. The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards,” said Trump.

Then the president mentioned the remarks Noah made about him.
“Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!” Trump wrote.
“I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media,” he said.
The president said that he would pursue legal action against Noah, comparing the threat to lawsuits he claimed to have brought against ABC and CBS.
“Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an MC, and suing him for plenty$" he continued.
"Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!" he added.
Grammys stage used for sharp criticism of ICE raids
Beyond the Trump-Noah clash, several artists used the Grammys stage to criticize the administration’s immigration enforcement policies. Justin Bieber and Kehlani wore black-and-white “ICE OUT” pins, while Kehlani shouted “F**k ICE” during her acceptance speech.
Bad Bunny received a standing ovation for remarks opposing ICE raids as he said that love was the only solution to hatred, and Billie Eilish also took aim at the administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants. “No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said.
