Trump urges Israel–Syria 'true dialogue' for a 'long and prosperous relationship'

Donald Trump hailed Syria’s hard work in a Truth Social post, and described the Syrian president as a 'major advocate' for Middle East peace

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump took to the social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday, December 1, to comment on the ongoing tensions between Israel and Syria.

While supporting the latter, Trump stated his administration was “very satisfied” with President Ahmed al-Sharaa and warned Israel that “nothing” should interfere with the country’s evolution into a “prosperous State.”

Trump praises Syria’s hard work in Truth Social post

In his latest Truth Social post, President Donald Trump stated that the Trump administration was satisfied with Syria’s hard work and determination and that they were doing “everything within... power” to ensure that the government of Syria would continue to do what was intended to “build a true and prosperous country.” 

He added that one of the things that helped the nation was Trump’s “termination” of strong and “biting sanctions.”

“I believe this was truly appreciated by Syria, its Leadership, and its People!” Trump wrote.

The president further claimed it was important for Israel and Syria to maintain a “strong and true dialogue,” noting that nothing should prevent Syria from becoming a prosperous state.

He said that President Ahmed al-Sharaa was working “diligently” to make good things happen so that Syria and Israel could share a “long and prosperous relationship together.”

“This is a historic opportunity, and adds to the success already attained, for peace in the Middle East,” Trump concluded. 

Trump vows to help make Syria ‘successful’ after White House talks

On November 10, Donald Trump vowed to do everything possible to help make Syria successful after Ahmed al-Sharaa visited the White House.

After the meeting, the Treasury Department announced that the Trump administration was giving a 180-day extension as it partially suspended the Caesar sanctions.

Donald Trump said positive things on Truth Social about his meeting with the Syrian president online and said it was an “honor” to meet him. 

He added that they discussed “intricacies” of peace in the Middle East, and that Ahmed al-Sharaa was a “major advocate” of the same. 



“I look forward to meeting and speaking again. Everyone is talking about the Great Miracle that is taking place in the Middle East. Having a stable and successful Syria is very important to all countries in the region,” President Trump concluded.
