WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump warned Chicago that they will get to know why the Department of Defense is now called the Department of War in an AI-post showing the city going full 'Apocalypse Now'.

In an AI-generated meme posted to Truth Social on Saturday, September 6, the commander-in-chief cast himself as none other than Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore from the 1979 film.

The post showed helicopters flying over a burning Chicago as Donald Trump leaned into the Vietnam War parody.

Robert Duvall originally played Kilgore in the Francis Ford Coppola-directed film, making the line “I love the smell of napalm in the morning” famous.

In Trump’s post, the line was altered to: “I love the smell of deportations in the morning…”

The meme also carried helicopter emojis and the words: “Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.”

Behind Trump in the image, Chicago appeared engulfed in flames while helicopters swarmed the skyline. Moreover, the text on the meme read "Chipocalypse Now" instead of "Apocalypse Now."

The MAGA leader officially rebranded the Department of Defense as the Department of War by signing an executive order on Friday.

Trump calls sending troops to Chicago an 'obligation' to send troops into Chicago despite legal hurdles

Since deploying National Guard troops to Washington, DC, to tackle violent crime, Donald Trump has threatened to extend deployments to other cities, including Chicago. He told reporters this week it was an “obligation.”

“When I watch television last night, and I’m watching the news and I see that nine people were killed in Chicago and 54 were badly wounded with bullets, I say, ‘That’s not our country. We have to do something,’” the MAGA leader said, referring to Labor Day weekend shootings in the city.

He has repeated the threat of sending troops to Chicago on several occasions since.

But his troop deployments have faced setbacks. A federal judge ruled that his deployment of troops to Los Angeles over the summer in response to anti-ICE protests was illegal.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has repeatedly pushed back against the threats of Trump’s move.

In a statement, the Democrat said, "We are ready to fight troop deployments in court and we will do everything possible to ensure that agents operating inside the confines of this state do so in a legal and ethical manner."

Internet reacts to Trump’s 'Apocalypse Now' meme showing Chicago on fire

Reactions quickly surfaced online as Donald Trump shared the 'Apocalypse Now'-style AI-generated meme to warn Chicago.

A supporter wrote, “Lol the king of Trolling That’s my president,” while another said, “Oh my god LOL He's freaking hilarious.”

A person wrote, "Well THAT pretty much says it all... Buckle up Pritzky," suggesting a federal takeover of Chicago may be imminent, whereas someone else added, "Expect the reactions to be wild😎."

“This may cause the most severe liberal meltdown of the year,” quipped one more.

However, not all responses were lighthearted. “Provocative posts like this just deepen political divides and make rational solutions harder to push through,” wrote one user.

An individual slammed the messaging, writing, "You do realize that is not just liberals that not like this. He’s actually lost a good chunk of his base cause of this authoritarian bs."

"Your post confirms your lack of integrity as this is a clear affront to American democracy- celebrating it puts you on the wrong side of history," read another tweet.
