WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump is seemingly sending sharp mixed signals to Iran, projecting confidence that a deal may be just around the corner while simultaneously threatening sweeping military action if negotiations collapse.

The latest window into Trump’s thinking came through Fox News' Trey Yingst, who spoke directly with the president on Sunday, April 5, and detailed the high-stakes tone of the ongoing talks.

Trump's call reveals stark threats and a push for a deal

In his conversation with Yingst, Trump laid out both the urgency and the consequences surrounding the negotiations in unusually blunt terms.

“I just spoke with President Trump for 15 minutes. He gave me some new details on the negotiations behind the scenes with the Iranians and what's going to happen if Iran does not make a good faith deal,” Yingst reported.

According to him, Trump warned, saying, “If they don't make a deal and fast, I'm considering blowing everything up and taking over the oil.”

The president went even further in describing the potential fallout, adding, “You're going to see bridges and power plants dropping all over their country.”

At the same time, Trump suggested diplomacy is still alive. Yingst noted, “He says those who are negotiating on behalf of Iran have been granted amnesty at this time so they can continue the talks.”

And despite the aggressive rhetoric, Trump struck an optimistic note about the timeline for a breakthrough.

The president tells me he thinks he'll be able to get a deal by tomorrow,” Yingst said, quoting Trump directly: “I think there's a good chance tomorrow, they're negotiating now.”

Trump's expletive-laden warning on Hormuz

These remarks come on the heels of another explosive warning tied to the Strait of Hormuz, where Trump had already escalated pressure on Tehran.

In a fiery earlier message, he threatened direct action if the critical shipping route was not reopened, declaring: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran."

"There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Strait, you crazy people, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH!" he added.

Taken together, the statements paint a picture of a rapidly intensifying standoff where the possibility of a near-term deal exists alongside the very real threat of dramatic escalation.
