PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: The interview of Tesla CEO Elon Musk with Donald Trump on X (formerly Twitter) commenced at 8.42 pm ET on Monday, August 12, after a 45-minute postponement due to technical difficulties.

Throughout the Spaces event, which attracted over a million listeners, there was speculation regarding the former president talking with a slight lisp, leading to some saying that he possibly "dropped his dentures."

Donald Trump's interview with Elon Musk draws attention to unusual lisp

The two-hour interview between Donald Trump and Elon Musk was expected to be unscripted and cover various topics without limitations on the subject matter.

The event was a part of the former president's return to the platform after almost a year-long break amid his 2024 presidential bid. After the Pennsylvania rally assassination attempt, Musk had given his full endorsement to the GOP nominee.

This was also a chance for X, a platform deeply rooted in politics, to recover from past challenges. However, the conversation was overshadowed by technical difficulties and the 78-year-old's unusual speech pattern.

Speculation about Trump's lisp in his interview with Musk appears to be rooted in worries that his speech patterns may signal a health concern or another underlying issue, as per Daily Beast

Nonetheless, there is no definitive evidence of any health condition linked to his speech.

The glitchy chat between Trump and Musk has been compared to the launch of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' presidential bid on the platform in May 2023, which was also marred by technical malfunctions.

Donald Trump's campaign addresses rumors about unusual lisp

A spokesperson for Donald Trump's campaign maintained that there was nothing out of the ordinary during the former president's conversation with Elon Musk.

The campaign's terse reply to the Daily Beast's inquiry about his enunciation was, "Must be your ears."

According to Daily Beast, a 20-second clip captured of Trump speaking during the chat did not appear to exhibit the same problems that users encountered during the live Spaces chat.

Internet speculates about Donald Trump's apparent lisp from Elon Musk interview

The Internet was rife with speculation on what caused Donald Trump's unusual speech pattern during his chat with Elon Musk.

One wrote, "OK, seriously there are two options. His dentures are falling out or he had a stroke. Dude cannot pronounce words at all."

"It sounds like Trump might be speaking without his dentures. What do you think?" said a person, and someone else added, "Trump sounds like he has a lisp LMAO every time he says the letter S sounds weird are his dentures not fitted properly or what?"

"I’m not joking; Donald Trump is speaking without his #dentures," speculated one more. Another person wrote, "Why does Trump sound like Donald Duck? This lisp thing is distracting."
