PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: During their conversation on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, on Monday night, former President Donald Trump mentioned the possibility of losing the 2024 election in a rare moment of vulnerability.

“And again I told you that crime rates all over the world are going way down, which makes sense the fact the next time what we'll do is if something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we'll meet the next time in Venezuela, because it'll be a far safer place to meet than our country,” the 78-year-old ex-POTUS argued, adding. “Okay, so we'll go, you and I will go and we'll have a meeting and dinner in Venezuela because that's what's happening.”

According to Variety, the discussion between Trump and Elon Musk lasted over two hours and experienced a 40-minute delay due to technical issues.

What did Trump and Musk’s X Spaces discussion entail?

Once the discussion began, former President Trump mostly focused on familiar topics, while Elon Musk praised him whenever he had the chance to speak.

The two entrepreneurs had a seemingly awkward rapport, as the 2024 Republican presidential nominee lauded Musk’s electric cars as "incredible" and his decision to terminate employees involved in union activities.

"You’re the greatest cutter,” the MAGA strongman remarked. “I mean, I look at what you do. You walk away. I won’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike. And you say, ‘That’s OK. You’re all gone. You’re all gone. So every one of you is gone.’ And you are the greatest.”

During the first 20 minutes of the conversation, Trump talked about his assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, and mentioned his intention to revisit the town in October.

Trump discussed immigrants from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America, stating that many are criminals and some are "non-productive."

“They’re not workers, or they don’t want to work or whatever,” Trump claimed.

The technical difficulties were reminiscent of a similar incident involving Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in May 2023. In that instance, repeated crashes led to the conversation being delayed by nearly half an hour.

As users complained about being unable to access the conversation, Musk attributed it to a "massive DDOS attack on X."

Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign team on X, which goes by 'Kamala HQ', made light of the technical mishap in its response.

“Donald Trump’s extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature not a glitch of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight on whatever that was on X.com,” the Harris campaign asserted.

“Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself — self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” they added.

The livestream hit a peak of over 1.3 million viewers on Trump’s X space.

Internet mocks Donald Trump for saying he'll flee to Venezuela

Netizens derided the former president for revealing how he plans on fleeing the country if the November election results don't pan out in his favor, inviting billionaire Elon Musk to join him in Venezuela when that comes to pass.

One X user remarked, "That’s fitting. Most high ranking Nazis fled to South America."

Another user claimed, "He’s gonna have to if he doesn’t wanna go to prison."

Another user said, "I knew it. If he loses, I wouldn't be surprised if he fled the country. He's got to know prison awaits him here....in at least one of the cases. Hope he takes some of his family be him."

One user wrote, "Publicly admitting a plan to flee the country while you're out on bond seems like something the courts should take up fairly soon."

Another X user argued, "Venezuela doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US. But wouldn’t he have to get permission from his parole officer to travel there?"

Finally, this user tweeted, "He already promised to disappear if he lost in 2020. He lied then, too."
