WASHINGTON, DC: Tucker Carlson has sharply criticized President Donald Trump, and saying he has “failed” to lead the United States and does not even appear to care to try.

The commentator made the remarks on the Wednesday, April 29, episode of ‘The Tucker Carlson Show’, where he also revisited his criticism of former Fox News colleague Mark Levin and the ongoing debate over US policy toward Iran.

Tucker Carlson slams Trump’s leadership over US governance claims

Carlson said Trump has not done a good job running the country, arguing that his leadership reflects deeper frustration with governance rather than genuine direction. He suggested that the former president’s priorities appear misplaced, saying he would rather focus on global influence than domestic responsibilities.

He added that Trump’s approach signals a broader disconnect from the expectations of leadership, claiming the administration has shown little interest in addressing core national concerns.

Carlson also previously accused Trump of prioritising foreign intervention over domestic issues, saying the approach reflects a pattern of misplaced focus in Washington.

Tucker Carlson repeats Iran nuclear intelligence claims in ‘The Tucker Carlson Show’

Carlson has repeatedly pushed back against claims that Iran is close to developing nuclear weapons. In earlier comments, he said, “It’s a lie. In fact, there is zero credible intelligence that suggests Iran is anywhere near building a bomb, or has plans to. None. Anyone who claims otherwise is ignorant or dishonest.”

He also accused Washington figures of exaggerating the threat to justify military escalation. Carlson said, “They staked everything on it,” referring to efforts aimed at regime change in Iran.

He added, “That’s the biggest thing they’ve ever done. And it hasn’t worked,” suggesting that failed foreign policy goals are driving renewed political pressure rather than evidence-based assessments.

Tucker Carlson accuses Washington voices of pushing Iran war agenda

Carlson further said that political frustration in Washington is increasingly being directed outward, especially as strategic objectives in Iran have stalled. He argued that critics of intervention are being targeted instead of policymakers reassessing outcomes.

He also suggested that ideological motivations, rather than national interest, are driving calls for military confrontation.

Tucker Carlson apologizes for past Trump endorsement

Carlson has previously acknowledged his support for Trump and said he misled people by endorsing him. He expressed regret over how that support was received, noting that it was not intentional misinformation.

He said he wanted to be transparent about his role in shaping expectations and suggested that outcomes did not align with what many had been led to believe at the time.
