Tyrese Gibson arrested over unpaid child support, ordered to pay $73K to avoid jail time

FULTON COUNTY, GEORGIA: Tyrese Gibson has been arrested after failing to pay child support ordered by the court.

On Monday, September 9, the ‘Fast & Furious’ actor was “temporarily detained” and later “released” after being held in contempt of court, informed the Fulton County Public Information Officer.

According to a New York Post report, The Director of Communications at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Gibson is no longer in custody.

Gibson and his ex-wife Samantha Lee are going through personal problems, including child support for their daughter Soraya, five.

Judge Kevin Farmer, who ordered Gibson to pay the monthly $10K in support, held Gibson in contempt and the star was escorted out of the courtroom in handcuffs by a bailiff, according to TMZ.

Gibson will have to pay $73,000, including $7,500 for his ex-wife’s attorney fees to avoid jail time, reported the outlet. 

Reporter Dennis Byron also shared information about the legal proceedings against Gibson over the X.

“Update! Tyrese has miraculously found the money he owes to his ex-wife Samantha Gibson and is arranging for it to be paid right now. He will likely be home for dinner,” he captioned while sharing an image of him from the courtroom.

Just before the hearing, Gibson shared on Instagram images of her daughter and wrote, “The love that a father can have for his children can’t quite be explained……. Whatever the outcome is today…… I am and will forever be their FATHER………”
