WASHINGTON, DC: The US and Israel don’t seem to have had enough of the Iran war, as the two consistent allies of the world, Washington and Tel Aviv, are reportedly planning to launch unprecedented strikes on Tehran, targeting energy sites.

According to sources familiar with alleged planning, the US and Israel are set to unleash one of the harshest bombing campaigns to date against energy infrastructure targets in Iran, which could continue till weekend.

US, Israel to attack Iran like never before

According to multiple sources quoted by CBS News, the potential strikes are planned to conclude by the time financial markets open Monday, August 3, because of concern about how the bombings will affect the US and global economy, but an endpoint wasn't locked in.

The Israelis have been notified and are coordinating with the United States, according to multiple US sources. However, President Trump has yet to give the final "go" order for the strikes, the sources said.

A joint operation would mark Israel's return to combat after halting its military operations during the US-brokered truce. Iran has not attacked Israel since the memorandum of understanding fell apart and the US resumed combat operations in early July.

Israel says it is unaware of strike plans

An Israeli official told CBS News, "Israel is unaware of a decision to restart full military operations, nor has been requested of Israel to join any military actions against Iran."

The report details that the Trump administration came up with new planning during President Trump's cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday, July 31.

One of the sources, quoted in the report, said that some White House aides opposed the idea.

While reporters were in the room, Trump said: "We'll be hitting them very hard. At some point, they're going to say, 'We just can't take it anymore.'"

"I think we just want to win," he told the press when asked about reviving diplomacy.

Energy infrastructure including power plants and refineries would likely be targeted, two of the sources said.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to the outlet, "As President Trump said at his cabinet meeting today, the United States will win, and Iran will not have a nuclear weapon under his watch."
