Nyjah Huston claims bronze medal ‘looks rough’

Nyjah Huston soon found out that the quality of the medal was not good.

Taking to his Instagram Story, Huston said, “Alright, so these Olympic medals look great when they’re brand new.”

“But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and letting my friends wear it over the weekend, they’re apparently not as high quality as you’d think. It’s looking rough,” he stated.

Ending his post, Huston added, “I don’t know, Olympic medals, we gotta step up the quality a little bit.”

As per reports, the designer for the Paris Games’ medals was the Paris jewelry house Chaumet and it was created by the Paris Mint.

Netizens react to Nyjah Huston's post

Nyjah Huston’s post has received mixed reactions online with a reader below The Post article saying, “Apparently the organizers were so focused and intent on making sure the opening ceremonies were woke, that they overlooked what actually matters, namely, that the medals these athletes win can endure the test of time. Or even a few weeks time.”

A second reader commented, “Yeah, that's what bronze does when it's exposed to any kind of humidity, kiddo. Just look at the Statue of Liberty... it turned green. It's made of copper... but those two metals are very similar. If you want it to look shiny and bronze color... polish it with the right type of polish and keep it in an airtight case. There's nothing wrong with the quality of your medal. Be grateful you have it.”

“Hahahahaha, like everything else about this year's Olympics, the medals are not the same quality,” a third one posted.

A fourth one stated, “Why is he letting all his friends wear it? Maybe it looks like bad quality because he’s letting too many people handle it! Not too bright!”

A fifth one shared, “With 7 billion dollars Olympics budget? Ridiculous!”

A sixth one added, “The gold medal is apparently 95 percent silver so even if you win a gold medal you just get mostly silver. What a scam and a rip off.”

A comment read, “Well duh, bronze tarnishes. You're supposed to keep it in a sealed case with anti-tarnish strips if you care about its appearance. Not let your friends wear it around the hood.”
