Val Kilmer's final Instagram update
Val Kilmer gave up attending red carpet events in 2019 and stayed in touch with his fans over Instagram, where he shared his artwork and rare selfies.
The actor made his last appearance on the platform on February 23, 2025, sharing a video clip of himself sitting in a padded room with artist and musician David Choe.
Reportedly filmed in 2021, Kilmer looked seemingly healthy in the clip, with a lean frame and clean-shaven face, his hair kept slightly long. He spoke briefly in a distorted voice as a result of his vocal cords being damaged during his cancer treatment.

Known for his on-screen portrayal of the Dark Knight, Kilmer said that it had "been a while" since he relived his glory days as a superhero. Putting on the cowl custom made for him by Choe, Kilmer stared into the camera before panning to a colorful Batman artwork.
The clip concluded with Kilmer staring directly into the camera with an apparent grin. The upload was part of a carousel that included other Batman-related artwork, presumably by Choe, and clips of the artist talking about his love for the character.

The actor shared two artworks on the platform following the clip, with the latest being posted on March 22. According to the Daily Mail, it was a photograph of one of his original paintings that he had signed and posted on his website for sale.
"It’s got that late-night glow. Cool tones with a low burn, like when the camp fire cools down but you’re still wide awake. 12” x 20” plexi-glazed, signed, and ready to hang," he wrote in the caption.
