Victoria Beckham ‘nuzzled’ son Brooklyn's neck during first dance at wedding: Source
LONDON, ENGLAND: The wedding reception of Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz in April 2022 has resurfaced in public discussion nearly four years later due to new claims and insider accounts.
What was meant to be a romantic first dance and joyful celebration at the couple’s Palm Beach reception has become a focal point of controversy involving Brooklyn’s mother, Victoria Beckham, and the couple’s ongoing family tensions.
The widely covered incident caused hurt and later prompted the couple to hold a vow renewal ceremony to create happier wedding memories.
Victoria Beckham and first dance controversy
Brooklyn and Peltz’s lavish wedding reception, a highly anticipated moment, became emotionally charged when singer Marc Anthony took the stage to perform and introduce what was expected to be the couple’s first dance.
Sources told Page Six that instead of dancing with his new bride, Brooklyn was called up to dance with Victoria, whom Anthony reportedly described as “the most beautiful woman in the room.”
On the stage, Victoria allegedly “wrapped her arms around Brooklyn” and “nuzzled into his neck,” dancing in a manner some sources described as “very inappropriate.”
Witnesses at the reception said Nicola fled the room in tears, with the Peltz side reportedly silent while the Beckham side cheered.
One guest claimed the moment “took that moment from Nicola,” calling it the “God’s truth.”
Brooklyn subsequently shared in a public statement that he had “never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life” during that episode.
Crucially, other insiders disputed the idea that the dance was a hijacked first dance. They said Brooklyn and Nicola had already danced together and that the moment in question occurred later, as part of a family dance when David Beckham and their daughter Harper also joined in.
Sources insisted there was nothing inappropriate about Victoria’s behavior and described the segment as a normal family celebration.
Brooklyn and Nicola renew vows amid wedding disputes
Beyond the dancing controversy, additional tension reportedly surrounded the wedding. Brooklyn wrote in his Instagram stories that Victoria, who runs her own fashion line, had "cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour," forcing her to find an alternative gown at short notice.
Contradictory reports from those involved in the wedding, however, suggested Nicola’s custom Valentino gown had been in development for months with fittings in multiple locations. The incident at the reception has also been linked to broader strains between Brooklyn and his parents.
After the wedding, Brooklyn and Peltz chose to renew their vows in a private ceremony in 2023 to create new memories “that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,” according to his Instagram statement.
This second ceremony was held at one of the Peltz family’s estates and was attended without Brooklyn’s parents present. Nicola has previously downplayed any feud with her mother-in-law, telling the Sunday Times that "it’s not a feud!"
She also emphasized that no family is perfect, suggesting that speculation over tensions surrounding the dance and dress planning may have been exaggerated.
