LONDON, ENGLAND: Victoria Beckham has recently admitted she regrets getting implants when she was younger.

Beckham at 49 is the epitome of grace. But she has learned the hard way the true meaning of body positivity and acceptance of self-image and she wants her daughter Harper, 12, to learn from her mistakes.

Victoria Beckham talks about aging and body positivity

During a recent interview with Allure, Beckham opened up about beauty, body image, and the impact these things have on one’s psyche.

Talking about her breast implants - that she got during her time as a Spice Girls member - the mother-of-four confessed, "If I’m honest, I wish I’d never [gotten implants].” She, nevertheless, removed the implants a few years ago.

As the designer was asked whether her daughter knew about the surgery, she asked, "It was a moment in time, and I think I can share my experiences with her. But we’re not there just yet."

Beckham, who is married to Manchester United legend David Beckham since 1999, also opened up about aging in the interview.

The fashion designer was asked by the interviewer, "Is aging hard? Or do you ever look in the mirror and think, 'D---, I look great?'" to which she replied, "I’ve never done that.”

Beckham added, “I didn’t do it when I was 20. I didn’t do it when I was 30. I didn’t do it at 40."

She continued to explain, "I look back at pictures from when I was in the Spice Girls and think, 'Didn’t like your makeup there, didn’t like your outfit there.' As women, I think a lot of us do that."

She, however, accepted, "I never thought I looked terrible. But I don't look back and go, ‘Oh, God, I wish I was that again.’ It’s not as if I’m getting older and I’m like, 'Oh, Christ!' [The aging process] has always been more than that."

She also opened up about getting bullied as a child. she shared, "I never fitted in socially. And when anybody is different, kids can be really mean. I remember being mentally bullied, physically bullied, literally pushed around."

Beckham added, "I have always said to Harper, ‘If you see a little girl sitting on her own in the playground, that was your mum. Go up and talk to that little girl.’"

Further commenting on her school life, she added, "My entire school life was a misery, an absolute misery. Kids can be bloody horrible," before adding, "I would never, ever allow my children to treat anybody like that. I know everybody thinks their kids are angels, but my kids are genuinely very kind. That’s the most important thing, isn’t it?'

Victoria Beckham opens up about accepting body image

This is, however, not the first time when Victoria Beckham opened up about accepting body image.

In an interview with Glamour UK in 2019, she opened up about embracing age and said, "The older I get, the more I realize what works for me and what doesn't. How working out and eating healthy is key. When you have four children, you accept your body changes.”

She continued, "When you have children, it also puts a lot into perspective. You realize they notice everything.”

Beckham explained, “I would never sit down with my kids and skip a meal—they need to see that their mum eats healthily—you need to show little people how to be healthy and happy with who they are.”

When asked about her view on her body then, she added, “I accept who I am. I make the best of who I am!”
