MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Videos have surfaced online capturing the moment when the ICE agent shot the 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday, January 7.

The fatal encounter occurred after she allegedly drove her SUV into the path of federal agents, sparking immediate outrage from local leaders and a demand from the mayor for the agency to leave the city.

Video footage capture violent encounter in South Minneapolis

In the video footage, ICE officers are seen approaching a plum-colored Honda Pilot and ordering the driver, identified as Renee Nicole Good, to exit the vehicle after she blocked the path of their truck.

As the agent tried to open her door, Good quickly shifted into reverse and then accelerated forward toward another agent.

That officer dodged the SUV and fired three shots before the vehicle crashed into a parked white sedan.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated at a press conference that Good had been “stalking and impeding” agents throughout the day and described the incident as a “domestic terrorist attack.”

Meanwhile, President Trump also commented on the event via Truth Social, stating, “The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”

Mayor’s rejection of federal claims of self-defense

On the other hand, Mayor Jacob Frey held a news conference where he used strong language to reject the idea that the agent acted in self-defense.

“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly: that is bulls**t. This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying,” the mayor said.

He expressed his fury over the agency's presence in the city, demanding, “To ICE: Get the f**k out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being here is to create some kind of safety and you are doing exactly the opposite.”

DHS labels fatal shooting an ‘act of domestic terrorism’

The Department of Homeland Security has stood firmly behind the agent's actions, claiming the officer used his training to save his own life.

DHS assistant secretary for public affairs Tricia McLaughlin posted on X: “One of the violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them — an act of domestic terrorism.”

She added, “An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.”
