Viola Ford Fletcher, Last Survivor of Tulsa Race Massacre Dies at 111

Viola Ford Fletcher, who survived the brutal 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre that decimated the vibrant Black community known as Black Wall Street, has died at age 111. As a child, she witnessed unimaginable violence and loss, including her family being forced from their home. In her later years, Fletcher courageously shared her story, testified before Congress, and fought alongside other survivors for reparations and historical recognition. Her enduring faith and resilience inspired many as she kept the memory of the massacre alive to prevent history from repeating itself. Tulsa's mayor mourned her as a beacon of hope and strength for the community.
