'Most excellent idea': Internet backs Vivek Ramaswamy as possible Senate replacement of JD Vance in Ohio
COLUMBUS, OHIO: Republican Ohio Senator JD Vance's appointment as former president Donald Trump's running mate in the November election sparked immediate speculation about Vance's potential replacement in the Senate.
After winning a Senate seat in 2022, Vance won't be running for office again until 2028. That being said, Governor Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, will be tasked with designating a successor if the 39-year-old and Trump emerge victorious and the former assumes the office of vice president.
According to the reports of Fox News, popular American entrepreneur and well-liked Republican, Vivek Ramaswamy's name has been floating around as the possible next successor of Vance in the Buckeye State.
Vivek Ramaswamy is a resident of Ohio
"Who else wants JD Vance’s Senate seat to be filled by @VivekGRamaswamy?" asked Sen Mike Lee, R-Utah, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), per the outlet.
Vivek Ramaswamy, an Ohio native, previously challenged Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in the primary.

In a statement provided by a spokesperson, Ramaswamy said, "I have rock-solid conviction that JD will be an outstanding VP for President Trump."
"The only negative is this leaves our side missing one of our best fighters in the Senate. If asked to serve, I would strongly consider the position and would discuss with President Trump which path makes the most sense for our country," he continued.
Getting Gov Mike DeWine to appoint Vivek Ramaswamy could prove difficult
Mike DeWine is a more centrist Republican governor than Vivek Ramaswamy, so it might be challenging to persuade him to appoint Ramaswamy given his "America-First" conservatism.
Ramaswamy applauded the choice of Vance as Trump's running mate in an interview with the outlet on Monday, July 15.
"I think he’s going to attract a lot of people who are hungry for economic mobility in the country, and I think he’s even going to attract a lot of people who aren’t traditional Republicans," he said.

The founder of Roivant Sciences was also among the front-runners to become Trump's deputy in the upcoming election before the ex-president made the official call yesterday.
One X user wrote, "Fully endorse this, unfortunately @GovMikeDeWine is too much of a RINO to do it."
Another said, "A most excellent idea."
"I like @VivekGRamaswamy Speaks his mind without any fear of the left. Definitely has my respect," tweeted someone else.
"Couldn’t get any better, except he belongs in Trump’s cabinet. He’s a leader more than a politician," remarked another individual.
